I'm a vet and I see a ton of Maggie's, so I voted "dog". However if you really like the name and decide to use it, people probably won't think of a dog when they see your cute little girl.
I have 2 dogs named Molly and Lucy... I think both are adorable for dog or human... my cousins little girl is named Maggie and she is so cute! I think a lot of people name their dogs human names.. i.e Jack or Bailey or Cooper as long as your dog or your parents dog is not Maggie I think its fine. Just dont name your kiddo Rover or fido or fluffy and your fine
Every name is someone's dog's name. I love Maggie for a human. I know so many dogs named Bella and Oliver and look how trendy those names are now. I met a little baby named Benji the other day.

This is really funny. DD's name is Lucy, and I'm strongly considering Molly for this baby if it's a girl. I just asked DH the other day, though, if Lucy and Molly together sound too much like a pack of dogs. (My name is Sadie, so I'm sensitive to that kind of thing! Haha.)
OP, I love Maggie. It's on my list as well. But obviously my name choices tend toward the "doggish." And growing up as a Sadie wasn't terrible. I just got used to people telling me they had a dog with my name. As an adult I love my name. :-)
It was a human name first and I don't know any dogs named it. It's one of our top choices for a girl (as a nn). I would say anything outside of Fidi would be fine.
I think it's silly that some people think names like Maggie or even Roscoe are dog names. People often give their pets names that people have. My cat is named Jack. It's a person's name (actually a rather popular persons name). If you like it then use it.
My name is Maggie (nn for Margaret) so I definitely voted human.
I will say that it was kind of annoying when I was a kid to have so many dogs around me called Maggie. Still, I love my name and wouldn't ever change it.
When I was 6 I got my first dog and I named her Maggie, so I think of my dog first when I hear the name. Secondly I think of the song 'Maggie Mae', which is obviously not about a dog. I don't think it's solely a dog's name or anything, like someone who said Rover before, but it was my dog's name!

Oh, Margaret would be her full name, but would probably only go by it on paper.
H and I really like the name, but worry about it being associated with a dog. Boo.
Honestly, I find the trend of giving dogs "people names" incredibly aggrevating. (Then again, I'm not a pet person...).
Maggie is a darling (and totally human) name for a girl.

This!
I voted person.
