New on here...edd 8.29

So, I know I'm a little late joining this board as I only have 3 weeks left to go, but thought better late than never. I was wondering if anyone was experiencing bad swelling in their feet and ankles? Mine got so bad that I had rolls! Just wondering if you tried anything to make it better.

  • Welcome! My due date is the 28th Smile I've had some swelling and like the others have said, lots of water and rest!
  • Hey jd!  I FINALLY got a user name to work (long story) but I too am just joining the board formally and am also due 8.29!!! About the swelling feet keep the up and elevated as much as possible, drink tons of water, stay out of the heat and don't wear any restrictive shoes or socks!  Think loose breathable real leather ballet flats or flip flops.  I find for every day I don't follow my own advice it ends up taking 3 days for the swelling to go down!  Good luck and welcome! :)
  • Welcom, welcom!!! We have the same due date!! Only 3 weeks left!! I have had some swelling. I just try and get more water and put my feet up. GL
  • Thanks for everyone's replies! I put my feet up as much as I can. It doesn't get bad until I get home from work. I live in AZ and it's been so hot here lately (115 today) so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.
  • Welcome!  Yes, I call them my Fred Flinstone legs...ick.  If I push my finger into my leg to the shin bone (where my legs normally are) I will leave this huge dimple that sticks around for minutes.  DH tried writing on them last night...it was hugely funny.

I had an appt today and the doctor said I can try more hydration (I already drink a ton however), elevating feet to at least straight out but higher better, swimming (will help with all over swelling too), since I sit at a desk all day she suggested making sure I didn't rest legs on edge of chair too long (will cut circulation and cause swelling), or compression socks but in the summer that sounded miserable.

Happy thoughts to all! BabyFruit Ticker
  • Welcome - I am also due 8/29! Sorry you are swelling. As PP have said, hydration with water is key! Also limiting salt & processed foods could help too.

  • Thanks guys. I'm going to try to chug more water and see if that helps. My hands swell up real bad in the middle of the night and I can barely flex my fingers! Good thing I took my wedding ring off a few months ago, otherwise they would probably have to cut it off lol.
