I've been reading about a lot of you whose OB/Midwife/Caregiver decided on a vacation within a couple weeks of your due date and guess what?? SO DID MINE. I'm 39w4d & my midwife is out of town until AFTER my due date. Lovely. I know there is a 1/8 chance that she will be the one to deliver my LO because it is a group practice, but still...

Re: Clicky: Dr./Midwife out of town?
Mine was there and actually was the one that sent me to L&D during my appt. She even was the one that broke my water.. BUT, everything happened so fast she missed the birth. My nurse practically delivered him with a small assistance from the on call Dr that did my epi.
I know its hard now because it seems to throw your plan off and all but I promise when it comes time it won't matter. You just want your baby out!
Good luck!

My doctor is going to be out of town on Wednesday because she is taking her daughter to school. She told me not to go into labor that day
Proud Mama to cleft cutie
I am due on the 26th and happened to ask my doc a few weeks ago if she would be around during the next few weeks. She casually mentioned that she's going away on 8/25 for "a few days". She is the only OB in her practice. At first I freaked, but then I realized that I could have this baby any time, and even if she is in town, she may not make it to the hospital in time, or there could be other issues that keep her from me. I just decided to relax and trust the hospital (although I'm sure as my due date gets closer, I'll be a bit more panicked by her absence).
