My twin boys just turned 2 in July. I am thinking of starting potty training. We have two little toilets and I just ordered some potty training books. The boys know what a toilet is for etc. but I thought the books would help. I would love any tips for potty training 2 boys at once...ahh! Is this a good age to start? I have had so many people tell me not to start too early and that boys tend to take longer than girls (who knows if that is true)? Also, I have heard some moms just cold turkey stop using diapers, others keep using diapers and just encourage them to use the toilet and then slowly transition to pullups and the regular underwear. What has worked well for you? Thanks so much!
I want to have both boys potty trained before we decide to start trying for our next little one!
Re: Potty Training Tips!
I can't speak for twins, but I'm starting to PT my singleton right now. We are going the slow and steady approach, since I'm busy with the babies too, hahaha.
I don't have much advice, other than to be patient and positive! It's a marathon, not a sprint....
Also, there's a really great Elmo's Potty Time DVD that my son loooooooves. We watch it every day at his request. I'm getting a little sick of it, but it is a good educational resource that a 2-year-old can relate to.
My boys aren't that age yet but I did help potty train my nephews....defiantly try and get your hands on a potty dvd that they like...also we had stickers in the bathroom and when they went potty they got a sticker to put on their toilet! They also had a jar of smarties and got 1 for pee and 2 for poop....maybe some wouldn't do this but it worked for them!
