Did CIO about two months ago and now our baby boy goes to sleep at bedtime every night without issue in his crib. However, every night like clockwork he wakes up around 11pm and 2am and is just impossible to get back to sleep. We've been trying CIO for these times and it still takes 30+ mins every time for him to eventually fall back asleep and that time hasn't diminished at all in two months, in fact, it slowly seems to be getting worse. What am I doing wron here?
Re: How To Deal With Night Wakings
Is it possible that he's uncomfortable, too hot or cold, or has a wet diaper? Or that he's hungry? If he might be hungry, you can try feeding him more during the day. We had a similar issue when I was trying to eliminate her night wakings, and we upped her solid food intake, and that really helped, a lot!
.
Have you tried adjusting his bedtime? We found that putting DD to bed a half hour later stopped her from waking up to play around 1am.
Also, how much daytime sleep is your LO getting? We found that more than four hours of daytime sleep causes interruption to night sleep similar to what you described. When I keep her total nap time between 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 hours, she is much more likely to sleep for an eight hour (or more) stretch at night, waking once to eat, then back to sleep for 2-3 more hours before waking for the day.
