So I have some friends who are due slightly before me. I love the name that they chose...Adelaide. But they're calling the little girl "Lady". For some reason, it seems incredibly weird to me, to the point that I actually cringe a little whenever I see them call her that. Not to mention it sounds like a dog name to me.
What do you think? Am I being dramatic or is that an awful nickname? And just to make it fun, what's the worst NN you've ever heard?
Re: What do you think of this NN?
I think Lady and the Tramp. Totally a dog's name to me.
Also, if I didn't know the girl's name, I'd be confused as to why people were calling her Lady (you know, like "Hey Mister!" kind of thing).
If I were using the name, I'd NN Addy.
All of this...we actually considered using that name if it was a girl and calling her Addy (except then we realized our cat is Madeleine and we can her Maddy....).
I think it's weird.
I think my biggest pet peeve nickname is when parents call their girls their 'little princess'. Maybe that's my UO for the week.

It's weird. It doesn't seem appropriate for a NN. But, if that's what they want to do...
I went to high school with a guy who was named Michael, but everyone called him Angelo. As in Michelangelo. Definitely creative NN for sure. I just always thought it was really random.
I can't stop thinking of my grammy's overweight beagle named Lady.
Lady=dog
dog=/=baby

Spoiler alert: The janitor's eventual wife!
But yeah, that's who I thought of. Even still, it's not really a nickname I would choose, that's for sure.
Sometimes, I'm hilarious.
I second the idea of NN Addy instead of Lady!
Lady sounds like a dog!
Horrible NN.
I can't see calling a baby/toddler any age lady.
Bad NN....I have some good ones. Elizabeth turned into lizard breath, lizard for short, beefers, beefcakes. My sisters kids like to call me aunt beef instead of aunt Beth.

This is my thought too. DH and I call DS Bubs all the time, like most of the time. But it isn't a nn that will follow him to school. And for the record, I also call my cat Bubs a lot so I guess pet nn don't bother me on humans.
LOL! My bro-in-law has been called Beef since grade school. Real name Glen, but he was a big kid! My girls call him uncle Beef!
