Converting to toddler bed

So hi again moms,

Have any of you looked at converting your crib to a toddler bed yet? Kyle is starting to grab onto the top and im getting worried hes going to learn how to get out the bad way. I am nervous of moving him to a toddler bed as he currently sleeps through the night and I dont have to worry about him getting out.

Any advice?

Re: Converting to toddler bed

  • I have been wondering this same thing. With DD#2 on the way I would love to get DD#1 in a big girl bed so we don't have to buy another crib. My Pedi recommends that babies stay in a crib until they are at least 2 or start climbing out of the crib. Audrey has not tried climbing out just yet but it is only a matter of time because she is climbing on everything lately. We plan to buy a trundle bed and basically just give DD#1 the bottom part of the bed and not raise it up (equivalent of a mattress on the floor). The other part of the bed will be in the other room for guests until she is big enough to be off the ground. The baby will sleep with me for the first few months so we have about 8-10 months to transition DD#1

  • I am so glad you posted this because this morning I caught Brayden hiking his leg up like he was going to climb out!  And last night, the silly boy was sleeping sideways with his feet hanging out the rails of the crib!  I think it might be time to move him, but I'm not sure if it's too early!
