My LO is 9.5 weeks and is still getting up every 2 hours to feed at night. Â He cluster feeds before bed, so the first stretch I get about 3 hours before the first night feeding. Anyone else's LO still getting up frequently at night? Â I'm EBF.Â
same here! I EBF too. We've tried a lot of things to help her stretch out her sleep....swaddling, going to bed later, going to bed earlier, keeping her active during the day, keeping her well rested during the day, keeping her in bed with us, etc etc. So far, nothing has seemed to really work.
Everyone keeps telling me that she will just drop a feeding at some point. Here's hoping it's soon!
Also, are you back to work? If so, how are you managing? I go back in 3 weeks and can't really imagine functioning well on so little sleep.
I'm back at work this week but only transitioning back so, working only a few hours. Next week, I'm back 20 hours a week. I've decided to work only part time until Jan, and then see where I'm at with LO. I'm managing okay, but think its because I got used to the lack of sleep. Â
You poor things. My EBF baby goes down for about 6 hours the first time and then 4 more hours. Â So she wakes once maybe 2 times during the night.
this. ds was sleeping 11pm-5am/6am-9am from weeks 3-5. then at 5 weeks he decided that 7pm was bedtime. now we get 7pm-1am/2am-6am reliably. the last few nights we've had 7pm-3am/4am-7am. i always thought ds's 6+ hour stretches were a fluke for an ebf baby, but we have yet to see a night with a shorter stretch in the beginning.
now all that being said, ds is also a baby that functions well on a few catnaps during the day. i rarely get a decent nap out of him. maybe one 1-2 hour nap during the day if i'm lucky, but it's certainly not daily.Â
It varies... she cluster feeds from 7-9 or 10 pm, then I get anywhere from 3-5h, then she feeds for 1-2h, she sleeps for 1-3h, then she may be up for the day or go for 40min to 2h...
2 nights ago I got a 6h stretch, then last night she did 3h sleep, 2h feed, 1h sleep, 1:30h feed, 3h sleep (by then I couldn't sleep anymore).

I am a wreck today and home alone.
Â
Sorry to hear that! That is hard. I don't think I could handle middle of the night marathon feeds. Luckily LO gets up every 2 hours but his feeds last anywhere from 1-5 minutes and then he's out again....You and I are similar in that we are doing this a lot of the time alone when DH is gone. Sometimes, DH is home but so exhausted, its like I'm still home alone. Â

Yes, LO likes to take her time for her meals! She has spaced out more in the morning, but from 6 pm on it is nursing time.
DH only comes back in September. My dad came to stay w/ me but he is gone for the weekend. It sucks to be tired and emotional. Can't wait for my husband to be back! Sometimes it feels very lonely
DS can do 6-8 hours, but some days he wakes every 2-3 hours and its when he has a growth spurt.Â
hes my 3rd so I know he will eventually not wake up at night at all, but it is tiring now with 2 older kids who wake at 6 am each day and my 3 yo doesnt nap anymore, so no rest for me. Oh and my husband is away for 3 weeks at a time. Its hard when he is gone.

My son is 8 weeks old and EBF as well. He just started sleeping 5 hour stretches. My son is in the 95th percentile in height and weight so my husband and I decided to put him in the crib this week instead of the bassinet and sure enough he is sleeping 5 hours vs. the 3 hours he's been doing for the first 7 weeks. He just looked so big and uncomfortable in the bassinet and that's why we decided to move him into the crib. I hear him kicking around and playing before he starts to cry to feed him now and I think he loves all the room he has in the crib. He's also sleeping for about 3 hours between 10am-2pm during the day and then up the rest of the day until about 9pm. I don't know if your LO is large like my son but the transition from bassinet to crib seems to be working for us and I am loving the 5 hours straight of sleep!

This for me.
She sleeps in her lamby swing though. It's not ideal but I realized she was taking longer naps in that than when she was sleeping in her nb napper in the pnp. Whatever works I guess:)Â
I kind of made the decision to have more "me" time in the evening, and keep getting up every 2-3 hours at night.
She goes to bed between 8 and 9, and will sleep anywhere from 3-5 hours. But I stay up to relax, so I don't take advantage of that stretch like I should. By the time I go to bed at 10 or 11 I only get an hour or 2 before she wakes up again at midnight or 1 to eat.
I've thought about keeping her up later, so that long stretch coincides with my bedtime, but she starts getting fussy around 6 with just being tired and gassy, and she loves going to bed - I swear she looks forward to it. So I'll just hope that sometime soon she'll ditch the midnight feeding so I get a solid stretch in there.
A usually goes down anywhere between 9 and 11 and sleeps until 5ish, eats and then goes back to sleep for another feeding cycle (3ish hours). I EBF.
However, she will still occassionally wake at 2 or 3ish. Sometimes she will eat, but often she stirs just enough to wake me, and is asleep again by the time I get back from going to the washroom.

My little guy gets up every 3-4 hours through the night.
My LO will fall asleep around 11pm then usually gets up at 2am. He'll go back to sleep then wake at maybe 6am then go back to sleep till 8 or 9.
I got lucky the other night and he slept 6 hours in a row! I hope the day comes soon when he does that all the time!
I'm hope your LO starts sleeping longer stretches for you.
