How do you transport LO?

I'm just curious, What is your primary means to get around with LO?  I know some are now hip-holders and I'm envious, DS2 is still a bit too floppy for that and launches himself backwards.  Usually I lug around the carseat or wear him in the Ergo.  For "exercise" walks in our neighbourhood I have a stroller with toddler seat attachment, though DS1 likes to ride his bike.

I was SO happy when DS1 could walk by himself.  DS2 is getting HEAVY.

Re: How do you transport LO?

  • I chose ss because it really depends on the situation.

Stroller: whenever possible now that she can sit in the regular stroller she LOVES it.

Carseat on stroller: if she's sleeping in it and I don't want to transfer her.

Ergo: if the stroller won't fit or she needs a nap she'll almost always fall asleep easily in the ergo.

Hip carry: for quick trips, just running into the store, etc

  • I'm at home most of the time and he is on my hip. I can't use the Moby cause it hurts my back and my hernia. When I'm out and about he is in his stroller but that isn't for long compared to how much I just hold him when we are at home.

  • When I'm home, he's in my arms/on my hip but when we walk around the mall or stores for a while, I pop him into the Moby. He loves it and usually falls asleep within 10 minutes. Like your DS, Lincoln occasionally launches backwards but he's starting to do less of that so hopefully that's in your immediate future too!

I do pretty much this same thing.

  • I lug her around in the infant seat, but I also use the travel system and snap that into the stroller.  I find it the easiest.  I wore her once and it took so much time to take her out of the carseat, not to mention my back and hips were killing me after 15 minutes.  I would much rather push her in a stroller just cus it's so easy and I can put my purse and diaper bag on the stroller as well.

  • Sometimes I put her in the infant car seat, sometimes in the stroller (which is still in the infant carseat), sometimes I hold her because I hate the first two options with a passion. Sometimes I put her in either my sling (very rare) and sometimes I have her in my Wallaby carrier. I love that thing and she does too.

  • Lately we've used the carseat in the stroller the most. When it cools down, I plan on using the ergo more. If we're going somewhere with lots of family, I just carry him because I know they'll want to all hold him anyway.

  • It depends. If we're just running into the store quickly, I carry the carseat so I don't have to unstrap/strap her back in. If it's going to be a while, I take her out and carry or wear her.

  • I can't wear both babies or carry both car seats or both babies. Basically, if I leave the house, stroller it is. Which is why I convinced my husband to get a really nice one!

  • I wear her most everywhere in a wrap unless it's raining really bad. I don't feel like wrapping in the rain, and I don't feel safe carrying her in-arms in slippery shoes. In those cases, I use the carseat.

We have a huge travel system stroller from H, but we haven't gotten it out yet.
