Out on a limb...vaginal breech deliveries?

My little guy is still breech and they're thinking he probably won't turn (I know, I know, he has plenty of time to turn...I have a heart shaped uterus so he's actually in the position that gives him the most room!).  Anyway,  my GP told me that no MDs or midwives in the Twin Cities will attempt a vaginal breech birth.  From my small amount of research, I am finding this to be true so far.  I know that this is definitely the norm, BUT, I wondered if any of you ladies out there know of an OB or midwife who will attempt it?

  • I would contact Generations Womens Health and ask. I know they have a very high VBAC success rate ~86%.

  • I would contact Morning Star Birth Center in St Louis Park, I know they work with an OB in Wisconsin that does breech births.

  • I would have them try to turn him before going straight to attempting breech delivery.

  • If you want a rec for an OB that has high ECV success rate, you can pm me.

  • Dr. Hartung in Stillwater/Hudson area will attempt vaginal breech births.

    Good luck

  • Dr. Hartung is the only OB in Minnesota/Wisconsin area who will do it, but he has a great success rate and is very safe!  Good luck.
  • Was just reading through these posts and realized I misread and thought you said VBAC. I would still call Generations and ask if Dr Laura France delivers vaginal breech babies? I thought I remember them saying she did but can't be 100% positive. Good luck with your delivery.

  • I know a few pp's mentioned him but I wanted to put in another recommendation for Dr. Hartung.  I know he regularly does breech births.  I just delivered my VBAC baby with him and has such an amazing wonderful experience.  I would highly recommend him.

  • Thanks so much for all of your responses.  I had some computer issues and forgot that I had posted this!  I have my first chiropractor appointment tomorrow for Webster technique and an ECV scheduled for later in the week.  Crossing my fingers that these will be effective.  Thanks for all of your info!
