I am trying so hard not to be a baby about this but I need to vent!
I love our family and love that they will watch our LO for us so we can get out of the house but I can't help but get upset when they are so quick to dump out bottles. I EP cause BFing did work for us. When DD only eats a bit of one bottle it just gets dumped when it can go in the fridge for the next feeding. I work so hard to express milk to avoid formula as long as I can and I can't help but feel all my hard work gets tossed out. I'm probably over reacting so I'm venting here rather then make an issue of it at home.
I just hate knowing her food went down the drain after all the pumping, sterilizing and storing that went into it.
Vent over.
:P
Re: Spilt milk....vent.
are you able to suggest that they just keep reserving the bottle? They may be going by formula rules which do state once the baby touches the bottle, the formula is only good for one hour. Explain that breast milk is different and that it's ok to put it back in the fridge and serve again later.Since they're family and not a DCP, they aren't subject to the same regulations.
Also, would they be willing to make smaller bottles to start with? My DC can only keep a bottle for an hour (state regulations), so I give them 2 oz bottles and they pour an ounce at a time more into the bottle if LO appears to still be hungry afterwards.
