Have you ladies seen this?

Mentos is encouraging couples in Singapore to celebrate "National Night" (tonight, Aug 9) by making babies to boost the country's population.

Quote from the Facebook page:

"This August 9th, Mentos calls on you* to show your love for Singapore. Celebrate National Night by giving our country the population spurt it so desperately needs."

*Financially secure adults in long-term committed relationships.

Hmmm I think its kind of weird. People should have babies when they're ready and not feel obligated to do it because of a population boost...and the asterisk part really throws me....

Wow. The video is a bit disturbing. But I don't know anything about the reasoning behind this - is the government of Singapore concerned about a low birth rate or something?

I agree...disturbing...I did a little Google research...

Apparently, the government of Singapore is concerned about the low birth rate...if it doesn't increase by 2015 they won't have a workforce to support their aging population. Back in May they had a meeting about it. (Source)
