Re: BLW check-in

  • Likes: asparagus, pizza crust, turkey bacon, and still obsessed with watermelon

    Dislikes: plum, blackberry, raspberry, waffle

  • Loading the player...
  • Likes: Squash, steak, pork, garlic bread

Dislikes: Raisins- he wouldn't even put them in his mouth, just threw them on the ground

My mother has to start watching LO in two weeks when I go back to work.  She's accepting, but nervous about BLW.  My  father doesn't know we're doing it yet, because he will be downright mad when he finds out (worry-wart of the century).  Any good articles I can share with both of them that sum up everything about BLW (the how-tos, do's & dont's, why it's safe, etc)

  • Meg, I would look for some quick youtube clips to share with them.  There are several on the rational and a few showing kids eating.  It might help calm their nerves a bit.

Likes: Everything.  Although there seems to be a special fondness for mushrooms and wontons lately.  Oh, and fresh peaches, the girl loves her some peaches.

Dislikes:  Still haven't found something she won't eat.  She even loves lemons - not that I'm letting her eat a ton of them, but she will not stop sucking them if I set a slice in front of her.

QCC: I too and returning to work in two weeks and I am somewhat nervous about how this will work at DC.  So far I am not planning on her having 'real' food for a few more months (I'm thinking she'll start lunch at DC at 9 months, but that's really just an arbitrary time I picked because she'll start meat then.)  However, if she is super interested or overly hungry (DCP always thinks she's starving....) then I'd like to maybe start earlier.  I am being a chicken about talking with DC about it though and haven't really mention too much specifically.  She knows DD is getting table food and eating whatever I give her, but I haven't revisited the topic of me sending her own food each day...not really wanting to rock the boat if you will.  Ugh.  I'm a chicken.

Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • New Hits - Lobster (As a kid DH had his own lobster pots that he would go out in a little skiff and tend - we couldn't let the first summer go by without trying it), frozen bananas and plums.

  • I do semi-BLW right now, but would love to do more. Do you just give them whatever you are eating for lunch and dinner and such? Cut up really tiny, or big enough for them to hold in their hands? & if you have to do it big enough, how can you be sure they won't choke (this goes along w/ - if you do indeed give them everything)?

DD won't eat w/ a spoon, it's a struggle. I've been giving her steamed carrots, mum-mums, graham crackers, cucumber, etc, and it's hit or miss. She loves to explore, but not really taking to it yet.
