I'm sure this type of thing has been discussed, but I'm sort of terrified about how my u/s went this morning and could use some advice...
According to my LMP I should be 7w3d but the baby is measuring at 6w to 6w1d, with a HB of 113. The doctor congratulated me on the pregnancy and was very positive during the appointment. She said my due date looks more like April 3 than March 25. I asked if it was at all a bad sign that it's measuring so much differently- 9 days! She said she's sure everything will be fine. I'm going back in 2 weeks to "check for growth." I then asked her advice about waiting to tell my parents or not and she said she would wait. I know I should just go with my doctor's opinion that she doesn't doubt everything's ok, but I'm so worried about the dating. It just doesn't make sense to me!
I don't remember from my first pregnancy, is going back 2 weeks from the first appt. standard, or is this b/c the baby's measuring small?
Also, if someone else wrote this I would say, "Oh you probably just ovulated late- no big deal." But my cycles are significantly shorter than 28 days. More like 23-25 days. And I got my BFP on July 13th, when I was not even 4 weeks according to the original due date. Would this mean if I'm really 9 days earlier, I would've gotten the BFP at more like 3 weeks or earlier? It's just not adding up. Has anyone experienced anything like this?? These next two weeks are going to be agonizing...
Re: XP: 1st u/s- not ideal
I had something similar happen with this pregnancy. Based on my ovulation date (I was charting and temping), I got my BFP on 11dpo. However, when I went in for my first u/s in my 5th week, the baby was measuring 5 days behind. The baby's measurement aligned perfectly with my LMP due date, but not my ovulation EDD.
I also had very low progesterone, so I was convinced things were going to end badly, but they didn't . By the time I had my formal dating u/s at 10 weeks, the baby had caught up and was measuring on track with my ovulation EDD. My official date hasn't changed, but I wouldn't be surprised if I deliver a few days early because of the original discrepancy.
I know it's hard, but try not to worry. There's a good chance that everything is fine. Early ultrasounds can be really hard to date, so your LO might show a huge *growth spurt* by the time you have your next u/s.

same thing happend to me... i was measuring 7w 3d at my first u/s but should have been about 9 weeks. they told me to come back in 2 weeks to check for growth and baby developed perfectly just spot on 2 weeks and had a HB of 175. i go for my NT on tuesday and will get to see the size/HB again so anxious for that. My doctor is telling me dont worry-so Im not. He knows better than me! i wouldnt panic, thats the worst thing for the baby--be happy that you heard a heartbeat-thats a great sign!
I wouldn't read into your doctor's advice to wait. My doctor tells everyone at their initial blood test to tell only those people who you would want to know about a miscarriage. That's her universal advice before she knows anything about your pregnancy. She says wait until after the results from the NT scan.
I was measuring a full two weeks behind what we thought I was. It happens. It doesn't always mean something is wrong. And you can get a BFP before 3 weeks. I got one at 2 weeks 3 days. You could have ovulated late, or baby could just be growing slower than average. Contary to what we often think, babies don't all grow at the same rate. Again it doesn't mean anything is wrong
I really woulnd't be to concerned because babies grow at such different rates early on, and depending on when conception was, and implantation (rememeber, could be from 7-10 days, sperm can live for 3 days...etc) so the fact the dates are off with what you thought isn't a big deal. According to when I O'd I'd be 9 weeks tomorrow, but the baby was measuring about a week behind that. Doc did not seem worried at all.

I know you don't think this is what happened to you, but for me, I always ovulate a couple weeks late...so it is totally normal for a baby to be measuring "smaller" than expected. For my first 3 pregnancies, my due date was given by the measurement of my baby...not my LMP. This time was different (right on time). I have also gotten positive tests at 9 dpo (third pregnancy) so I was only a little over 3 weeks pregnant.
It is hard to figure out, but it is a great sign that your baby has a heartbeat and I wouldn't worry.
