Let them rip ladies!
I don't really have one today. I'm just pissed at myself/email system for making me come into work an hour early when the training class isn't until 11am. The one day I needed extra sleep was today. Up with a 16m old teething child all night, I'm exhausted and cranky. Bleh...fml

Re: UO Thursday!!
I can not stand the phase "YOLO" It makes me want to slice people.
I'd go to jail for slicing those people....but YOLO.
I'd like to know that too. Now all I can think of is FROYO and now I want some. Thanks a lot Lauren.
"You only live once" Its becoming such an epidemic that people are getting it tattooed on themselves...
ETA: Let me clarify....they are getting the abbreviation tattooed.....not even the full phrase. "YOLO" Are you effing kidding me?!
Agreed.
It annoys me when people think something posted on The Onion is real news.

A woman posted that on facebook yesterday and thought it was a real story...
Umm, yes. YOLO is the most ridiculous thing I have had the pleasure of hearing on a regular basis lately.
I think pregnancy cravings, for the most part, are total bs. I feel like a lot of people just use pregnancy as an excuse to pig out and eat whatever food crosses their mind at a given moment. And I have to wonder if the people that I hear about that gain 70-80lbs per pregnancy are the ones that are constantly stuffing food into their faces just because they think it sounds good instead of eating sensibly. By no means am I a calorie counter or anything (in fact, I eat like a little piglet, pregnant or not!), but I just don't understand why it's so hard for some people to choose healthy options instead of cake upon cookies upon brownies upon chips. Sure, they're all delicious and I eat them as well, but I always 'chase' things with a piece of fruit or something else healthy before having anything like that.
Ummm... I don't like when anyone talks about any one thing too much.
For instance, last night for my dad's birthday dinner, my brother's girlfriend referenced her day's work out at least three times... to me, mentioning something more than once is just "fishing".
I don't bring up my pregnancy unless asked for this exact reason...
Other people should do the same for whatever they've got going on in their lives, whether it be exercise, dieting, pregnancy... new job.
I agree with this. I've heard people gaining 60 or 70 lbs. I eat pretty healthy and I'm terrified to be one of those people who gain that much weight (I'm up 13lbs). When you're pregnant it's the BEST time to be healthy! I want to start my LO off right.
I agree that some women use food cravings as an excuse to eat what they want, but I have had trouble with food aversions. First trimester I would throw up everything but bland starchy carbs. It's somewhat better now, but I still can't stand most vegetables they taste like acetone.I still try to make healthy choices with the foods I can tolerate.
Every pregnant women is different so don't just assume because you didn't have cravings and/or aversions others don't.
In light of recent events, I will second this
This is funny.
I know where you're coming from, but my totally non-BS pregnancy craving with this LO has been apples. Not applesauce, or apple-flavored foods, but fresh whole apples. To the point that a few times, I could barely wrap my mind around dinner options for the family because all I wanted was an apple. Haha!
Some girl on our BMB asked how to check her PMs and used the word retarded.

I agree with this. My husband, dad, and I are all vaccinated for pertussis (I assume that's the one you're talking mostly about, given what I've seen on the boards). I would like, for my mom especially (since she works in a school system), and his other grandparents to get vaccinated against pertussis just because they will have a lot of contact with him, but it's not like I'm going to demand the vaccination records of everyone who comes to see him. That just seems crazy.
While I agree that some people use pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever they want whenever they want, I need to say that I have had real, no BS cravings. Not the 'I think xxx sounds good, so I'm going to eat it' kind of craving, but the 'if I don't have a BLT in front of me in 3.5 seconds someone's going to get stabbed' kind.
I had a few days in 1st tri where all I wanted was bacon. Then in the beginning of 2nd tri I had a 1x craving for this super spicy pasta dish from a local restaurant. I hate spicy food with a passion.
I never had those kind of urges before getting pregnant. So for me, the cravings are real.
Until the baby gets whooping cough
Too many ladies to quote, but that's why I said "for the most part" I think the cravings are BS. Sure, there are kicks that I went on involving lemons and cheeseburgers (not together though) in early pregnancy, but it was never this, "I'll die if I don't have this right now!!!!" feeling the way some people describe. I know that a lot of the cravings people have are based on what your body needs- however I don't feel that the baby only needs crap to eat so I think a lot of it is in peoples' heads.
To each their own.
In other news...
I can't stand it when people name their baby a specific name just to use a nickname associated with that name. For example: I like the name Eleanor. When people hear that it's a consideration for our LO, they ask if I'm going to call her Nora. No. I'm not. Her name would be Eleanor. If I wanted her to be Nora, I would name her Nora.
If I think about nicknames, I'm thinking what are kids going to call her in elementary school that will scar her for life?
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!!! I hate the whole, "Well why don't you name her 'this' so you can call her 'that'?" Um no....how about I name my kid what I intend people to call her for the rest of her life.
While for the most part I disagree, as I like the idea of a nickname for every day use but a more formal name for everything else... I also LOVE the name Eleanor.
I think it really depends on the name. Nora is fine as a stand alone name, so I can see why it'd make more sense to just name a kid Nora instead of Eleanor if that's all she'll ever be called. But some nicknames are just too cutesy to be given names, imo.
There's also a big epidemic in AZ right now. DH and I got our boosters on tuesday. I spoke with my stepdad about it today. I thought I'd meet resistance, but he said he'd make an appointment to get his right away. We are facing a preemie, so I don't think it's an unreasonable request. I will be asking my IL's as well as they are coming down for the winter and them not seeing LO is not an option.
Agree 100%
