Are you still taking prenatal vitamins?

When I went for my 6 week check, my OB said I didn't need to take my prenatal vitamins anymore but to finish what I had left.

I'd like to still take a vitamin though. Are you ladies still taking your prenatal vitamins? If not, can you recommend your vitamin?

Re: Are you still taking prenatal vitamins?

  • I think that if I were BFing I'd ask an LC before I stopped taking them, maybe ask what I could take that would help my breast milk and give LO what they need?

I'm formula feeding though, so I stopped taking my prenatals when I stopped BFing at 4 weeks. I take a one a day women's now.

  • No they make me nauseous.. I stopped taking them after first tri. For some reason all vitamins make me sick. I just pay attention to what I eat and it's fine.
  • I'm still taking them, but I am breastfeeding.
  • I'm taking them b/c I'm breastfeeding as well.  I have another bottle that I'll finish - my dr said it's fine to take them since we'll be trying for a second probably in a year or so.
  • still taking them.

  • I stopped taking the prescription ones back in Dec because they were making me sick. I take vitamin code raw prenatal vitamins and am EBF.
  • The nurse gave me a prescription for another year with my discharge papers in the hospital because I am nursing, so yes, I am still taking them.

Ha! But you know what, I got lots of compliments on my hair while pregnant. Maybe it was the vitamins! I should keep taking them.

I am still taking them, but only because I have a huge bottle left.  My dr. said I could stop taking them 6 weeks after ending breastfeeding.  When I wasn't pregnant I used to take women's one a day.

  • Still taking them, and I'm BF. A grocery chain where I live just started a baby wellness program where they give free prenatal vitamins to all pregnant/breastfeeding women for a full year if you sign up, so I'll be taking prenatals until next summer!

  • Still taking them.  My midwife told me to keep taking the prenatals and the iron supplement as long as I'm breastfeeding.

  • I am not taking them.  My OB wanted me to, but I had two LCs tell me they could make LO fussy (I BF and supplement).  Has anyone experienced any issues with the prenatals making LO fussy?  If not, maybe I should go back to the prenatals?  Are they better for LO?  (I am taking women's one a day)
