Pregnant after a Loss

Success after CP anyone?

Hi ladies!

So I've been reading the boards for a while as DH and I have been TTC for a little over a year, but I'm still a newbie poster so bear with me please =)

Anyhow, I had my first BFP on 5/26 which ended just a few days later on 5/29 when I started bleeding.  Went to doc and was told it was a CP... very hard especially because it was my first pos.  But my doc told me that we could start trying again right away.  So I continued my OPK and ovulated rather late on cd 17.

Well, I just had another BFP yesterday.  Unlike last time, I am terrified and excited.  I am super excited but also worry that I may lose this one too.  Has anyone else had success like me right after a CP? How did you handle your nerves in the first trimester (esp these first few weeks)?  I feel like I am walking on eggshells all the time, I don't want to workout hard, or take another test, I don't even want to call my OB until another few weeks pass as my bleeding started right after I saw them for my initial blood sample last time.

I am praying this one sticks, but would really appreciate any advice you ladies might have about re-framing your head after a loss. Thanks for taking the time to read my inner most fears =)

Re: Success after CP anyone?

  • When we first started TTC, I got pregnant THREE cycles in a row. The first two ended in chemical pregnancies and the third ended in DD.

So, yes I did get pregnant right away, and I don't think my first c/p resulted in the second c/p, it was just bad luck, bad timing.

I know what you mean about feeling like you want to wait to call your OB. What I did was I took HPTs every day and saw they were getting darker (unlike my c/p, which went negative in a few days). I still ended up calling before I was 5 weeks along.

I also got one beta done with DD's pregnancy, and that helped. Otherwise, it truly is just wait-and-see, which sucks but that's what it is.

Good luck! Hope this one sticks :)

  • I had a CP the cycle before this BFP, just like you.

My nerves were through the roof until 11 weeks, and sometimes still are. Everyone here was very supportive and were a constant reminder that I'm not the only one going through this experience and they were very helpful to me.

Try to take it one day at a time and see what happens.  It will be good for you to go in soon to have your levels tested.  The longer you wait and the higher they go, they longer they take to double, which could stress you out more than you expect.  Do whatever your Dr. recommends.

    Good luck, and welcome!

  • I had a missed miscarriage in November and then a CP in February and then I got this BFP in April! So so far I'm having success after a CP. :) In fact, because I have PCOS and so rarely get a period I feel like my CP helped flush me out, with the bleeding, as awful as that sounds. Maybe htat's just what I have to say to myself to make me feel better.

GL! The worrying doesnt go away! It does get better with more positive doctor's appointments!

  • I went through 2 losses: A missed miscarriage in August 2010 and a CP in December 2010.  I got PG again in Oct. 2011 (  I took a 4 month break in the Spring).  I'm about to meet my rainbow baby real soon.

There is definitely hope after a CP. Good luck!

  • My first pg was a c/p.  Got pg a few months later with my son who I carried to term and is sleeping in the next room.

You can see in my siggy that my first BFP ended in a CP and I got pregnant the very next cycle using OPKs as well.  I was terrified of it happening again, so I peed on a lot of sticks to watch them get darker, and I mean A LOT of sticks, I know, I know ... thats a bit crazy.  I also requested to have betas drawn, and had an early US at 6 weeks, and got to see a HB.

Unfortunately I still worry, and I am 13 weeks.  I have seen baby twice via US, and listen to LO heart beat on my home doppler.  It does put my mind at ease some, i would definitely suggested getting one.  The sonoline-b is wonderful.  I found the HB at 10 weeks exactly.

    Good luck with everything, wishing you a H & H 9 months...

  • Thank you so much for all of your replies.  You gals gave me courage to pee on yet another stick.... still BFP yay! Even darker than last time which is good.

I guess I'll call my OB first thing tomorrow to see if they want to do HCG counts =)  And just take it one day at a time...

  • My first BFP was in September 2011 and I lost the baby at 7 weeks. It took months for me to get pregnant again. I finally got my 2nd BFP on March 4, 2012 and lost the baby just 3 days later. Exactly one month after that BFP, I got my 3rd BFP. So there was no AF in between. I am now 16 weeks and going strong! It's definitely possible to have success after a CP. It's totally normal to be nervous, but try to enjoy it and take it one day at a time. Smile

  • I had 4 CP's in 2 years, and am now 31w along. My 2 CP's last year were one right after the other. Then it was a few months before I got my sticky BFP.

GL to you, and I'm sorry for your loss.

  • This pregnancy cant be classified as a success yet, but I had a CP the cycle before I got my BFP with this LO. FX we both end up with sticky babies.

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.

  • Congrats!

DD was the result of my cycle right after a c/p.

C/ps are many times just the result of bad luck. Multiple c/ps may point to a bigger issue such as egg quality.

  • Thanks for posting this!  We got BFP our first month, to only have CP days later. Waited 1 month and started trying again. BFN last month (official 2nd month of trying) and in the 2WW for testing. I don't think I am ever going to recommend testing early. I often wonder had I not tested early, would I have been so disappointed?
