38 weekers- what is your progress so far?

If you have been checked so far, have you started to make any progress? At my 37 week appointment I was a finger tip dilated. Yesterday at my 38 week appointment I was still a finger tip dilated but am not 50% effaced (whatever that means) I guess a little progress is better then nothing but I was really hoping to at least be dilated to 1cm. Now I know why some women don't get checked. My due date is till 11 days aways and I already feel like I am going to go over. How is everyone else's progress?

At my 38 week appointment I was dialated to a big fat zero and the baby was still sitting high but as of yesterday at my 39 week appointment the baby had finally come down, my cervix is soft, I'm dialated to about One cm and 40% effaced. This weeks appt was much more encouraging than last week. I guess a lot can change in just one week. :-D

I was also 50%, 1 fingertip, high, and disappointed at my 38-weeker! I'm also due in 11 days and my midwife told me not to expect to go into labor anytime soon. I'm excited for my appointment tomorrow to see if I've made any more progress, but definitely planning to go late. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised to go early that annoyingly disappointed to be late.

I didn't get checked at 37 weeks. I asked to be checked on Tuesday at my 38 week appt since I've had tremendous lightning crotch and thought maybe it was doing something. All I got was "cervix is closed tight and baby's head is very low." No numbers. I'm kind of annoyed that I didn't ask a station number or if there was any effacement. I'm due the same day you are and worried that I'll go passed due too, but apparently lots of FTMs do, so we might as well just ride it out, we still have time.

36 weeks: 1 cm, 70% effaced

37 weeks: same

38 weeks: 2.5 cm, 70-80% effaced

I know it doesn't mean much, but I was super disappointed when I stayed the same. But then when I made some progress this last time I was so excited. I really wish I could stop myself from letting them check me. It's making me think she's coming early, and then I'm disappointed when nothing is happening. I should just say no when they ask, but my curiosity gets the best of me.

At 37.5 weeks I was 1.5 cm dilated, very soft with baby high up

Tom, is my 38.5 week appt and yesterday I had timeable contractions every 40 min for ~40 sec. ALL day. Then they stopped overnight and now my back is killing me. Now I'm sitting at work, hoping they start back up.

36 Weeks - fingertip dilated 0% effaced (long)

37 Weeks - 1.5cm dilated 0% effaced

38.5 weeks - 1.5cm dilated 50% effaced

As of Tuesday, I am 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. But I've been that way since 35 weeks! She said the baby is still "way up in there."

I'm almost 40 weeks and feeling bad for myself so I'll chime in. 37 weeks - nothing. 38 weeks - nothing. 39 weeks - They didn't check and I'm glad. No contractions or anything yet. Monday I'll be 40 weeks and 1 day. Still probably NOTHING. I'm a bit disappointed. I didn't think I'd go overdue with my second since the first was 10 days early and with him I was 3cm at 38 weeks. Oh well...guess she likes it in there!

I've been long, hard, and "maybe a fingertip" for weeks now. Oh, and LO is still "sky high!" Sad

Disappointing for sure, but I know it doesn't really predict much anyway.

As frustrating as it is I am glad I am not the only one who is in the boat of frustration. And I know this doesn't mean much but being a ftm it makes me very impatient! Hopefully all of our babies decide to come sooner then later. It doesn't help to be at the middle of the month and already see all these other ladies with babies. Totally jealous.

37 weeks- 1cm, 50% effaced, and was told he was pretty far sown

38 weeks- miraculously I went backwards in progress (i wasn't happy at this appointment) 1cm, 30% effaced, and they said he's still pretty high.

I think it all depends who checks me, and it just made me mad. I'm not getting checked anymore.

I am 39 weeks as of today.... still just a fingertip (same as last week) and about 30% effaced. I've been having some contractions but mainly when I am out for a walk. Midwife seemed pretty sure I'd be back in next week for my 40 week appointment, but she said you never know. So.... we wait.

37 weeks: 1/2 cm dilated

38 weeks: 2 cm dilated, 50% effaced

But those numbers really don't mean much. You can be barely dilated & effaced and go into labor the next day, or you could more dilated & effaced than average and still have weeks left.

my appt's fall mid-week. So at 35w5d I was 1cm and 30%effaced. At 36wd5 I was 2cm and 30% and yesterday at 37w5d I was 2-3cm and she didn't mention my effacement.

I'm glad she gave me the 2-3 (because I was stretchy) rather than the same 2cm as last week. I had contractions, timeable cramping, loss of MP, etc. between these last two appt's so I was really hoping/expecting some progress. I'll take any little bit

39 week check is today, FX that these contractions ive been having every 8 minutes for days are doing something!

Nice and closed. She didn?t say anything about effacement. I know this sounds kind of impossible, but baby?s head is lower in the birth canal than my cervix. She has to reach around his head to get to the cervix (if that makes any kind of sense). She said my cervix should move during labor to better align with the birth canal, but I?ve been having trouble finding much information about it.

37 weeks- finger tip dilated and she said my cervix was still thick.

39 weeks- 1 1/2 cent. dilated and 40% effaced and -1 station.

i feel like ill still be pregnant a month from now! ):

My appointment falls between the two weeks (tomorrow), but last Friday @37w3d I was fully effaced, but not dilated. This week has felt all kinds of crazy in there, and LOTS of pressure and contractions, so my fingers are crossed for something this time!

Not to rain on your parade, but I've been having contractions at a minimum of ever half hour for weeks and lasting sometimes over 2 minutes (they've been as frequent as every 8 minutes). If they stop like that, they're just BH.

And I quote, "It (my cervix) is as long as a penis." this was at my 38 week appointment. My doctor then prescribed lots of sex this week to help out. Needless to say I felt the appointment was disappointing. My husband seemed pretty happy though.

I am 2 centimeters dilated but with a hard cervix...hoping on Tuesday I have made some progress!

I was waiting to come back from my appointment this afternoon to be able to reply to this post. I'm 38 weeks today and had my first internal. I'm 1cm dilated and my cervix is thin. The baby's head is sitting very low and he or she is in position.

She's also saying with all the rain we're having this weekend and the change in the air pressure my water could break (it's common with this weather) although it could still be a week or so before anything happens.
