  • I would familiarize yourself with what Tricare will and will not cover for procedures and make sure you are on board for possibly paying OOP so when they talk to you about what your options are further down the road you can be prepared.

They should order you CD3 BW and ultrasound and a HSG and your DH a Sperm Analysis.  These test should be done before doing any procedures or taking and meds.

  • Depends on what your doc wants to include in the first visit, for mine we mostly just went through medical records and asked a lot of questions. They had already done a basic blood test, and they will want a Sperm count/mobility test. Turns out over 50% of the time (I forget the exact number), infertility is caused by the male partner, so he didn't want to start testing on me, or do any procedures before DH did his part.
The next step was going to be blood tests checking for hormone levels at set dates after menstruation, which I had to wait for the next month for. I guess hearing it might not be my "fault" and getting the process "started" worked though because I never did get that next period.

    Good luck!

That is a good question. On my appointment slip it says "family practice" but it is not my regular doctor.

Does this change what your response will be?

All the testing should be covered.  If you are going to be doing any meds with timed intercourse everything should be covered.  If you are looking at doing an IUI cycle we paid about 1,500 OOP out in town.  We were lucky that we were also able to see a RE at the naval hospital where our IUIs were fully covered.
