For moms with winter babies

I didn't have to worry about cold weather with DD, so I have a question.

LO will be born around Dec. 30, so I need to think about keeping him warm as a newborn. I am looking at these JJ Cole Bundle-Mes and am wondering whether we should get the Arctic or the Urban -- or perhaps something else entirely. Any advice?

    DS was born in Oct, and we bought the JJ Cole Urban. It looked more comfortable and warmer. DS loved it, he was very snuggly when he was all zipped in. He would just wear his normal outfit and the Bundle Me kept him warm enough through the winter just fine.  Our next one is due about the same time as yours and we plan on reusing it. FWIW I've heard that these aren't safe because it's an "add on" to the car seat and can interfere with the safety mechanisms. The "shower cap" type ones are safer, but then you have to use a blanket. We'll reuse ours.

    We had the shower cap style that sipped and then the flap over the face. I loved it because you could just dress them normally to go out. We will be using again for sure.

    We had a second hand BundleMe for DD2, who was born in September. We used it through a good chunk of winter, but I modified it so it didn't interfere with the straps. I used this idea:

    It's a long post, but if you scroll to about the middle she has a video on modifying the BundleMe. She also has some suggestions for other products that don't interfere with the straps, listed right after the video.

    We had this too.  It worked great to keep the rain & snow off of LO.

    Yep, we used the bundle me for two winters in a row and I loved it! I'm not sure what model we had, but it worked well.

    We used a shower cap style and both kids would kick it off because they were too hot so I would leave it mostly unzipped.  Those infant seats are pretty warm.

    Both of mine are winter babies, I just dressed them for the weather and used a fleece blanket.

    We used the shower cap version for our 1st. We had him in his regular clothes, plus a blanket and then the shower cap cover because of all the cold weather up here. It was fantastic and we'll be using it again for this one, just not with the extra blanket because it won't be as cold.
