DS did very well through the whole thing. He let the physical therapist do whatever she needed to assess him and didn't fuss or cry. He did well with the other evaluator, but I can't remember what her specialty is right now.
It turns out that DS is more than 25% delayed in the three areas suspected by pediatrician, but not severely so. He starts occupational therapy tomorrow and will see the PT and developmentalist next week. He'll have an hour of each therapy weekly.
I go back and forth between guilt that I may be responsible for his delay (did I hold him too much? Not enough? Too much this/that?) and glad that I didn't listen to the people who said, "Oh, he's fine. All babies develop differently."
Edit to add backstory: I was concerned that he's not sitting up unassisted yet, among a few other minor things. I mentioned it at his 9-month well baby appointment and the pedi agreed that he seemed behind in motor, fine motor, and language skills.

This, thank goodness you are nipping this in the bud, what a proactive Mama! You know some parents wait until motor delays are caught by teachers in Kindergarten. Can you imagine?
This exactly! You should not feel guilty at all because you did do the right thing. I am wishing your LO the best and hope LO will be able to quickly catch up. You are a good Mom for keeping on top of this!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
For those of you who asked, the pedi suspected a delay in language skills because he's not making consonant sounds yet. He babbles (nearly incessantly sometimes) with all of the vowel sounds, though.
