Hospital Bag Recommendations for Mom and Babies

I can't believe that I have even made it this far! This has been a tough pregnancy for me and I haven't had any bedrest, so all you MoMs with bedrest and supertwins have my total respect!

I have started to pack my hospital bag and think about what to pack for the babies in their bag to bring them home. In my bag, I have enough loungewear/sleepwear to last 4 days (I am hoping for vaginal delivery but preparing for a c-section), toiletries, camera and back up battery, phone charger, pads, slippers and a robe. Am I missing anything?

I don't know what to pack for the babies when it's time to bring them home. I have heard that some moms like to bring baby clothes from home for their babies to wear in the hospital, while others felt like that was a hassle. Do I need to bring diapers/wipes/soothies? I have also read that hats and mittens (to keep babies from scratching their faces) are recommended, but I thought the hospital would provide those items. What do you MoMs recommend?

Thanks!!

  • Call the hospital and find out what they provide. We ended up bringing way too much stuff cause the hospital provided everything (for the babies). For you, I think you're pretty much all set, except that I brought my laptop and it was a lifesaver, as a much needed distraction (when the babies were whisked off to the NICU or for testing, etc.). Also for Skype. And general boredom.

  • The only thing I brought for the babies was their going home outfits. For me, I packed clothes, laptop, camera and charger, a thing of hand sanitizer, Chapstick, extra hair ties....

  • You really should only need going home outfits for the babies, the hospital should provide everything else, but you might want to check just to be safe.

Also, I brought a couple of different sized outfits, since there's really no guarantee how big your babies will be.... I just wanted to have options.
