First U/S BPM Question

Ok, I had an u/s 2 weeks ago a 7 weeks 5 days.  My doctor didn't say there way anything wrong but I am starting to get nervous as I do some reading (maybe I should just stop reading)!

At 7w5d my baby had a heart rate of 115 bpm and my doctor indicated that she could not get a measurement because my bean kepts curling into a ball.

I've done some reading that is saying that 115 bpm is wa too low for that far along.  I'm starting to get nervous that there was actually something wrong and she ust said that she couldn't get a proper measurement.  I've had hardly ANY symptoms since the inital breast tenderness and it's making me nevous.

I have another u/s schedule for next week (10w4d) but that just seems SO far away!  What were some of your hreat rates around the same time frame as 7w5d??

Update:  I spoke with my doctors office.  She insisted I wasn't sounding like a crazy person...haha.  She asked if I had had any cramping or spotting (which I haven't) and said tha at 7w5d, the bpm range could be from 100-180 so mine was ok!  I feel much better after some reassurance and will be excited for my next u/s on Wednesday.

Re: First U/S BPM Question

  • I would call and ask...my LO's heart rate was at that at 6 weeks 2 days.  That does seem a little low for 7 weeks 5 days, I know with my last pregnancy she was in the 150's at that point.  It can't hurt to call for piece of mind.

B/c she didn't get a good measurment, is it possible that you are earlier then you think?  If you were a week earlier then a HB of 115 wouldn't sound low

  • I had an ultrasound at 7w4d and baby's heart rate was 158 bpm. I had another ultrasound at 8 weeks and the heart rate went up into the 170s.

  • The only reason I would be behind is if the baby is a slow grower.  I was working with a fertility clinic and know my exact ovulation date as well as the date of my insemination...

You're right, I should call and ask...I just don't wanna feel like a paranoid crazy person!

  • I am sorry you are having anxiety over this. It is so hard to not over-google and freak yourself out. I agree with pp about calling your doctor and expressing your concerns. Maybe they can fit you in earlier to calm your fears.

Are you sure of your dates? If ovulated a week later than you think, that could explain a slower heartbeat.

To answer your question, I had my 1st u/s at 7week exactly and the baby's HR was 150bpm.  However, I was charting so I know that my O date matches up with my EDD.

  • My one piece of advice about pregnancy is to always call with questions or concerns....who cares what they may think.  This is your body and your baby and you have every right to ask questions.  If I didn't demand testing and ask questions last time they would of never discovered I had a short cervix and was high risk for pre term labor

If it will help you relax...call

  • Call your doctor and see if you can go in during the next couple days. No need to worry all weekend. I call my doctor today because I wasn't feeling right and she had me come right in and did an ultrasound. All good. I will sleep better tonight. Take care!

  • Try not to worry. As pp said there is a huge range of normal at this point. It doesn't sound too low to me. That said, you are your best advocate so if you are worried about something call and ask.! good luck!

  • The range this early in pregnancy is really wide.  My doctor told me that above 90 and below 190 was considered normal.  It tends to be lower the earlier the hb is checked.  At 7w, you were still pretty early.  Try not to worry.  Most likely, the hb will be much higher next time.

  • I agree with ppl....call your doctor if you are that nervous.  I did and got an U/S a few days earlier when I was nervous.  At 7w5d my heartbeat was 169.

  • All I know was I was at 6w1d and the bpm was 128 - - But they said that at that point any hb is good...

If your doc didn't say anything about it I'd relax until next week (added stress won't help regardless) and if he couldn't get an accurate reading that might have a contribution to it...

You are lucky to get another US @ 10 weeks, my next one won't be until 18-20 weeks for the anatomy scan...

If there was something wrong, your doctor would have said something.  I know it is difficult but try not to worry and stay off of Dr. Google.

This. If there was something to be concerned about, the doc would have said something. I'd trust your doc more so than google. I had my ultrasound and measured 7w2days and she didn't tell me the bpm (not sure if she even checked) and I'm not worried. If there was something to be worried about she would have told me.
