What age did you LO start to hold their own bottle? DS is almost 7 mos and not really trying, he just plays with it if I give it to him and I am just wondering at what age he'll start to feed it to himself. TIA!
I think around 8-9 months DD started holding her own bottle. I would hold it for her, and then put her hands on it so she got the hang of feeling the weight a little bit, and then I would hold it less and less. Give him time, he'll get there! Good Luck!
We try to get them to hold their bottles as soon as possible since it gives you more time to do other things while they are eating. I can't remember when they both started, but it definitely has been months. I think it was around 5-6 months.
DS can hold his bottle, but he rarely wants to. I am ok with that. He is such an independent little person, I am ok with him wanting me to do things for him.
I think he started doing it around 8 months, though, to answer your question.
In the 14 months she took a bottle, DD1 held it for herself exactly once at about 5 months. DD2 has never held her own and doesn't show any interest in it. They both started holding their own sippy cups at 6 months, so it's not that they aren't capable, I think they just know mama is a push over for cuddle time and figure why hold their own bottle if mama will do it for them

DD never actually started on her own so i decided i was going to try really hard to get her to hold it. I started by putting her hands on the bottle while i held her hands on it, it took some time and some resistance from her but eventually it worked. I still have to put the bottle in her mouth first and put her hands on it. lazy girl!

DS started holding his bottle at 5 months so I was sure that's around when DD would get it. She didn't start holding her own bottle until 11 months....LOL.
I think it was around 8-9 months for DD as well. At first she wouldn't grab the bottle herself though, we had to put her hands on the bottle when it was in her mouth. Eventually she started grabbing her own bottle and holding it while she drank it.
8.5 months and he shows no interest in holding his own bottle. He has mastered the sippy cup though, so I'll often put formula in that for him and he loves it.
I really don't mind feeding him the bottle though - its the only cuddle time i get with him now that I have weaned from BF.
DS has been holding his own bottle since just before 6 mo, though he still hasn't quite figured out angle. I keep waiting for him to realize he has to tip it up to keep the milk flowing after a certain point.

I know that DD (10 months) can hold her own bottle because she has before, but she prefers if I hold it for her and I enjoy the cuddle time. It's really the only time she'll sit still with me since she's always on the move. She does feed herself finger foods though and drinks water in her sippy cup on her own.

my daughter never did. Never showed interest. We tried putting her hands on it & she just moved tthem away. Not sure if it had anything to do with it, but weaning her from a bottle was super easy. She was never attached to the bottle & went to a sippy fine.
my daughter started trying at about 3 1/2 months. She's now 5 months and holds it for the majority of the time but she drops it sometimes and we'll have to pick it back up to hand it to her. She's also not so good at aiming it to the right spot, we help with that too but she's getting there very quickly!

Exactly. My DD would play with the bottle but just smirk at us if we tried to get her to actually hold it and drink from it. She gave us a hard time about the sippy cup too at first, but then all of a sudden got the hang of it and hasn't looked back at the bottle once.
