Hi all
Sorry its been quite some time since I've posted. The little man has been keeping me busy!
Am I the only one who misses being able to go grocery shopping without getting stopped 20x by people who want to interact with the baby?! I am always polite and talk with the stranger-but I have to admit I'd just like to get my eggs and milk and be done!
Anyone else feel this way or am I just hormonal and weird...
Also, any fellow bed sharers out there? As of now ds sleeps between dh and I. We have a king size bed and dh and I don't toss/ turn so I feel safe with ds in the middle. I just started thinking now that ds is more mobile do I need to worry about him crawling away and off the bed in the night? Im a pretty light sleeper and think I would hear him - but just wondering if I should take extra precautions (bed rail ect.)
Re: Am I weird?
Eh, the first few times I don't mind being stopped. He does smile at everyone, and sometimes I like the excuse to talk to another adult for a minute. If I'm in a hurry or already grumpy, I just smile at the stranger and keep walking. Not like they're going to chase me down to talk to the baby.
I used to bedshare. I'd say if you think you or DH would sleep through DS crawling over you to the edge of the bed, a bedrail is in order. Otherwise, you're probably fine. If you plan to bedshare longterm, however, a bedrail is never a bad idea, especially for those nights you don't have DH as the extra barrier. It'd also let you roll away from DS now and then without worrying about him falling off the edge and you not waking to stop him.
I generally don't mind, but sometimes its nice to run in quickly to the store and that's hard to do with a cute baby
As for bedsharing I use bedrail baby between me and rail. I'd wake if she starting crawling towards to bottom or over me but I sleep better with the peace of mind

I have also been MIA for a while! My two are keeping me very busy!!
I have not bed shared, but I have to say, I love taking both of my kids shopping. I hate grocery shopping in general. It makes it so much more pleasant experience to know that my kiddos bring smiles to people's faces, and I can't get enough of people telling me how beautiful and well behaved they are! It's def a hassle having both of them in a cart, but I definately don't mind the attention they get!
I don't go grocery shopping since ds was born and instead do home delivery for our groceries. I love it and it's totally worth the $7 delivery fee. I tried a couple times going with ds and could only fit a couple things in the cart around the car seat. And actually I still feel guilty that the last time we went I accidentally stole a pepper that rolled under ds's car seat. It was raining and I felt stupid going back in so I just left
I do know what you mean though about getting stopped every two feet. We cannot walk through the mall/store without everyone coming up to us and commenting on how big and blue ds's eyes are. I love hearing it of course but sometimes I'm in a rush but don't want to be rude.

hahahaha THIS!
Nice to see you back here! We bedshared full time until he was about 5 months old. He was between me and DH. Our mattress is on the floor, so if he rolls off it is only a 6 inch drop. 2 months ago we moved him onto a crib mattress beside our bed. Unfortunately, he rolls off of it and wakes himself up, so most nights he winds up back between us again.
In addition to the bed raill suggestion, you could put your mattress on the floor. Or buy a crib and side car it to your bed.
I recently broke down and bought a crib because I needed a place for him to nap that he can't crawl away from.
