Potty training and pre-school

Hi girls! I could use some advise. We recently got our son potty trained and honestly it went really smooth! He hasn't wet the bed once, never has accidents at home, and he's super happy about being such a big boy. Well the last two days when he's come home from pre-school (my mom picks him up because DH and I get off too late) they've sent his two extra changes of clothes home dirty. So he's having multiple accidents during the day at school. I asked the morning teachers if they knew what was going on with this and why he was having so many accidents and they were NO help! I asked if he's being reminded to stop and take potty break or if he's just not saying anything or what the circumstances are but they had nothin. So I'm feeling like they aren't really helping him there and encouraging him. So my question is, do you guys have any advise as to how to get the school to help him more?? Or what other suggestions for this??

    How long is he there and how often does he need to use the potty?  If you took him to the potty right before taking him into class, would he need to go before getting out?  DS1's preschool has always been either 2.5 or 3 hours, so he could easily go that long without needing to pee during class.

    Unfortunately he goes all day. I take him at 6:30 in the morning and my mom picks him up at 4:00 in the afternoon so there's no way around that one :( But that you for the suggestion!! I really appreciate the input.

    Honestly, my younger DD had a very hard time getting trained at school and it had nothing to do with the teachers and everything to do with not wanting to stop what she doing, afraid that if she went to the potty, she would miss her turn on a toy or lose the toy she was playing with.  We had to keep reminding her to tell the teachers and remind her that the teachers would save her turn/toy until she got back.  She had more accidents outside than inside.  The teachers at our daycare are amazing with the potty training - way more patient than I could ever be with that many kids just learning.  It happens and some kids get it all more quickly than others but I would just remind him everyday that he needs to tell his teachers as soon as he realizes that he needs to go and that if he has an accident and needs to be changed, he will miss more of whatever is going on by needing to be cleaned/changed than if he just goes to the potty.

    I work at adaycare/preschool. I tech in the 3yo class. We have lessons from 9-11 (official preschool time). I have all the kids go potty at about 9:45 before our 10 o'clock outside time. Then at 11 we start getting ready for lunch. I ask if they nerd ti go potty & if so to go. Then we wash our hands. We all go again at 12 when we get ready for nap. The last time I have a structured potty time is right before we go outside for the afternoon @ 3:30. the kids are allowed to go potty anytime outside those mandatory potty breaks obviously. In the morning before/after breakfast when the kids are engaged in free play, they just ask to go. I do try to make a point of sending kids that seem to have accidents more frequently. If you haven't gotten anywhere with the actual teachers maybe you should go to the administrator. Perhaps ask them to keep a log of when your child goes to the bathroom. It may be an issue of them sending the kids, but the kiddo not actually doing anything. Sometimes kids are funny about the toilets & places in which they relieve themselves.

    If he's just getting into this PT routine, it may take a little while for him to get into a routine at school. DD knows when she has to go, and just goes, the bathroom is in their classroom. If he's still needing to be reminded/prompted, just write down on his daily papers or whatever you use to communicate with his teachers, that he needs to be asked to go every so many hours. GL!

    Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I will talk more with his teacher and keep reminding him to tell them when he needs to go! And I'll try and relax a little and be patiend Big Smile
