Anyone else get 2 swabs for GBS?

I went today for my regular OB appointment with the assumption that my Group B Strep test was going to be next week (first week of weekly appointments)....well, it was today!

I wasn't mentally prepared for having the test today much less having both areas swabbed Tongue Tied I have a few friends that just had the vag swab.....

I was told I was getting both swabs, but then when the actual appointment came, they only did the vag one. *shrug* I wasn't going to complain.

One swab but after she did the vag swap she said something like, "I'm just going to swipe right by your anus." So one swap, two areas? Or maybe she switched swabs. I wasn't really paying full attention because I can't see over my belly.

One swab, two areas. I had to have one earlier in this pregnancy and I'd forgotten about that procedure from my last pregnancy. It's not fun if it's unexpected!

I had mine today and the doc told me that in Canada (where I am) they only do 1 swab, vag, but that in the US they do front and back. I wanted to be like, I know, the ladies on TB told me so :P

And also, I got to do it myself - she stood on the other side of the curtain with her hand reached around, I grabbed the swag, stuck it up there, then stuck it in the tube she was holding. Better way to do it. I think. LOL.

Y'all have me scared now. OB told me today I would get swabbed at my next appointment. Did not think to ask if my booty would be. I know I will have major swamp crotch that day. I can only imagine how nasty my ass will be.

I can't for the life of me remember what they did last time. I want to say it was just the vaginal area, but I could be wrong. I still have a couple more weeks before I do it for this pregnancy.

pretty sure both areas got swabbed last time, but I can't remember if it was the same q-tip or if she had two in her hand and swapped them out.

The butt swab is pretty important. During a vaginal delivery, your baby will be coming into contact with germs from both areas. I'm actually surprised that some doctors only do the vag swab.

And I know that sounds icky, but it is part of building the baby's immune system and it is the mom's germs, so it isn't as bad for a just being born baby as a stranger would be. It's how we've evolved over time.
