A scary thing just happened...

So LO is playing sitting in the living room I'm straighting up, the dogs are in the yard, all is normal. Until I hear my boy dog's peculiar bark coming from the front yard. He got out, how I don't know, he's got no collar on and he books whenever he gets a chance. I must go get him. Without thinking I run outside and then realized the door closed, AND IT'S LOCKED!! LO is not even in the play pen he's just in the house and I'm locked out! How could I be so dumb. First thing I thought was to go to the neighbor to borrow a phone, call 911? I hear LO crying scared!

I realized I can get in the yard, the sliding door is open! Phew! LO was in hysterics but finally went down for his nap without a problem. I'm still shaken up, that was the scariest three seconds of my life!

  • yikes! I'm glad the sliding door was unlocked!

Before DD, I locked myself out of my apartment twice and had to take out a screen and climb in a window. Thank goodness the window was open. After DD, I put a spare set of keys in our little yard because I knew there was a distinct possibility I would lock myself out when going downstairs to get the laundry or the mail.

    I need to do this!

  • This is why I'm glad I can't lock myself out of my house.. you have to use the key to lock it. But I can only imagine how scary that would be!!

  • I'm glad everything worked out!

When my parents were away, I fed their cat.  I stepped outside to shake out the mat under her dish, and I even turned the knob on the door, but it locks, despite the turning.  Luckily, I was able to break in with a credit card!  It was only about 3 mins. and DS was calmly sitting on the floor, trying to turn on the television with the remote.  I would have smashed through a window, if necessary.  My mom came home, and after hearing the story, said she'd locked herself out so many times that she had one specific window she used to smash when we were kids.  LOL

    I agree, that's SO scary!

  • My husband locked himself out of the house while DD was in the highchair. I have no clue how he did it, or why he went outside while DD was in the highchair, but luckily one of our neighbors was home and has a copy of our key. While he waitied for him to come by, my husband just watched DD from the window. She was cool as a cucumber, DH was shaken up a bit.
