Re: Milk - Poll

  • We are still BFing, but I am going to introduce WCM next week, as it will be two weeks before her first birthday.  I'm anxious to get moving on the weaning process.

  • The pedi we saw at DS's 9m checkup seemed pretty adamant about no WCM before 1 year. (She actually said 13m.) She's not DS's pedi, and I think she was a bit crazy, but I decided to wait until after the 12m appointment to switch.

So we have about three more weeks of FF.

  • Since LO is still showing signs of a dairy intolerance we just switched to almond milk and she loves it. She gets about 24 oz. a day. We have not had any issues since switching. Her GI wanted us to use almond instead of soy milk so its going good!

  • BM only with no plans on switching to WCM anytime soon.
  • I offer Lincoln milk on occasion to see if he likes it but he mainly just blows bubbles with it. For now he is solely a boob man.

  • Wcm and formula. This week it's 4oz of formula and 2oz of milk. Water with every meal and snack.
  • This kid can't seem to grasp how fluids escape bottles, sippies and water bottles.  He is a boob purist.

He bites everything other than the boob.  I don't know what else to try.  I swear, I have like 8 different kinds of bottles/sippies and he just doesn't get it.

  • My DS birthday will be on Friday and he is on 100% lactose-free WCM.  Pedi asked us to start transitioning him slowly around 10 months and he now just gets that in sippy cup with meals and snacks. Some nights he still gets a bottle before bedtime, but not every night.

  • Breastfeeding and soy milk. He also gets juice every other day and lots of water.

  • Still BFing before meals and before bed, but I've also started to offer WCM during meals and whenever it looks like DD could use a snack.

  • DS is currently switching to WCM. We are 4oz fomula and 4 wcm, next week we will add another oz of wcm and take away formula. He drinks water out of sippy. Doesn't really like juice which is OK by me.... though he did steal someone eles's sippy at mommy and me and it was water with some fruit punch. LOL

  • I clicked "other" b/c he is drinking breast milk and formula.  He nurses a few times a day/night, but we have had to supplement with formula b/c pregnancy tanked my supply.  We'll transition to WCM when he's a year, and keep BFing as long as he is interested to continue.

  • I still nurse him before bed and maybe once during the night and first thing in the am. Other than that he gets coconut milk.

  • We're in the middle of the switcheroo from formula to WCM. We are *almost* there. I'm paranoid about it hurting her tummy though, so I'm increasing the amount very gradually, and what takes most people a week or two to switch is taking us about a month. Also, formula is expensive and I want to use up what we have anyway.

I drink a combination of raw milk (cow?s), unsweetened organic almond or coconut milk, and goat?s milk.  My daughter eats what I eat and I?ve been giving her all of these types of milks.  My supply dried up completely around 7 months and after I ran out of donor milk and formula around 10-11 months, I started giving her these milks to drink.  I am really not a fan of all the junk they put in formula, nor did I want any more of my grocery dollars going to giant corporations like Abbot or Merck.  I figured it was close enough and she?s fine.  She gets all her calories from real meals anyway.
