TTC after 35

Dropped to coverline

I am new to charting & TTC.  I went off BCP June 13th, so this is our 2nd month TTC.  It is only my first month charting - since I was on my Honeymoon the first cycle & knew that charting would be impossible.

I am on 12 DPO & my temp just dropped to my coverline temp.  Does this mean there is no hope of being pregnant?  I have been nauseous for over a week now.  No throwing up, but definately quesy.  We seemed to have had intercourse at the right times based on my FF chart (hoping to be able to attach chart for you to see).

On day 11 (from start of period) I had very obvious ovulation pain/cramping & the next day I had a little spotting.  According to FF my ovulation occured on day 13.

At age 42 & the first time TTC - I know our chances are not the greatest.  I appreciate any info my fellow bumpies could give me.  I know my cycle is probably off still.  I did get my period when I would have if I was still on BC last month - which I found amazing since I had no idea when it would start back up - but right on schedule AF showed up.

OK - no clue how to attach my chart from FF.  If anyone can tell me how to do that, I will try again.  Thanks.

  • Welcome!

What I've learned from this board is that going off the BCP can make your cycles a little wonky for the first few months. In addition to charting are you also using ovulation predictors?

Unfortunately alot of the times a temp drop does mean your periods on the way, however some times it's also indicative of implantation but would need to be followed with a temp increase. Since it's only your first month charting I would say keep at it, usually it takes a few months of charting before you start to see a pattern. Good Luck!

  • Hi, Thanks I am not using OPKs yet - just charting temp & CM right now.  My DH thinks I am overboard already with this - that I should just let it happen. LOL  Mind you, he admitted that he looks at my notepad with my temps written on it constantly...

I shall see what tomorrows temp says.  At least it hasn't fallen below the coverline yet.  Praying for a rise in temp...

    Thanks for the input.

     Hi and welcome!

You can add your chart to your signature.

In fertility friend, at the chart page, select the "sharing" option on the top right side of the page, choose "get code" and then select and copy the "chart thumbnail" code.

At the bump, login into your account and customize your signature, paste the code there.

Hope this helps.  Charting is a great idea.  It helps to be able to share your chart with others when you have questions.

Sometimes, as PP said a dip can mean implantation and it can go below the coverline.  But as DHZ said above, if your temp soars back up it's likely good news.  Unfornately, if it doesn't you can expect AF.

Anywho, good luck.  Hope your stay is short and sweet.

  • Welcome!  I am on a similar boat.  My period is 2 days late, my temp dropped today. I am not even bothered to test.  My cycle is always very regular, as some of you know, my cycle is all wacked this month.  So I don't even want to get my hope up.  I am just waiting my AF comes so I'll do my IUI this cycle.

Good luck to you, I hope your temp rises tomorow.  Big Smile

  • Thank you, it was a challenge adding my chart, but it looks like it is there now :)

  • Yeah. The drop is not a good sign, but things can turn around. You never know.

Anyway, a warm welcome to you and good luck!

  • A temp drop is usually a sign of af but you will know for sure in a couple more days.  I don't think you are going overboard by charting and I would get the cheap oks to use too.  Unfortunately time is not on your side and I think the reccomendation is to see an RE after 3 months without success over 40.  Good luck to you!

  • Unfortunately I dropped below my coverline today 97.5 - ugh.  I guess this month was not the month.  We shall see if AF shows up anytime soon.  I was mildly crampy - but so light, that I don't know if I would have noticed if I was not TTC.  Usually I get constipated right before AF & that is not the case yet - so who knows.  Need to get my body back to doing things naturally w/o BCP.

  • Chiming in late, here, but I agree with pps. And I don't think using OPKs is overboard. For me, it's the only thing that works, since checking CM is just not a viable option for me.

I also find that FF puts the coverline too high. My RE is always taking my charts and drawing a coverline a couple bars below FF. But yes, your chart looks like a non-pregnancy chart.

If you have a chance, check out the FF lessons-- they have some great basic information that can make charting much clearer and they only take a few minutes to read through.

Welcome to the board and GL!

  • Hi, yes, I read all of those lessons (I think 9 of them so far) and also read the book "Taking Control of your Fertility".  Of course reading & then actually filling out the chart & understanding what the chart means takes a bit of getting used to LOL.  I am glad I found the FF chart - so much easier than keeping a manual chart using a pen & pc of paper.. He He

  • Sad AF showed up at lunch today.  I guess moving onto the 3rd month of trying.  To top it off, the person buying my house is not able to get a mortgage now - so that deal is looking like it may fall through.  Just when life was looking up...  What a crappy Wednesday I am having.  I just want to cry!
