Anyone familiar with the Sumner area?

Can anyone tell me about the Sumner school district? I checked out the greatschools website and the Sumner SD seems to be okay, but not great compared to Tahoma, which is where we are now. However, test scores aren't everything. And even the Tahoma SD has issues with overcrowding (not to mention a big issue concerning passing a much needed bond). I'd love to hear the inside scoop on Sumner. Thanks!

Re: Anyone familiar with the Sumner area?

  • I used to live in Sumner and my son started going to their Preschool at Crestwood Elementary. Absolutely love it there! Even when we moved out of the school district we get a waiver every year to keep him in that school. I've also heard great things about the Tahoma and Derringer (sp) school districts but wouldn't trade the Sumner school district for anything else.   The teachers seem to be younger and/or more in tune with new age teaching where other schools that we toured were a little more old school.

  • Sumner is a very desirable area! I'm just down the road in Orting and wouldn't mind at all of my kids were in that school district, from everything I've heard from friends with kids in the district they are very very happy!

  • All schools are over crowed these days. :-(  But Sumner is a really good district.  Much better than most school district around it.  :-)
