How are you dealing with the wait?

Seriously, I feel like I have cabin fever! Every day that I'm pregnant just seems like it's never ending. Trust me, I know this baby needs to cook for as long as possible, and I get that... but each day I just feel like I wake up and go through the motions and wait. And Wait. AND WAIT. I just wish I had something that would interest me enough to take my mind off of wondering when this child will come.  That's the hard thing about babies, ya know. You can't predict, unless you have a scheduled induction/C-sec.

Are you doing anything/have any hobbies that are helping you pass the time?

Re: How are you dealing with the wait?

  • I'm working up until the last possible minute so I have more time at home with the baby, so that fills up the weekdays.

Honestly, my husband and I are SO busy in the evenings and weekends that time is flying! We're finishing up the nursery, organizing clothes and supplies, cleaning the house from top to bottom, clearing out clutter and throwing stuff away, etc. I still have to go shopping this weekend to finish up the last of my registry items, then put all that stuff away. Wash baby clothes, washcloths, sheets, blankets.

    I have PLENTY to do!!!

  • Work, keeping the house clean, chasing after our toddler - this pregnancy is flying by for me.

I remember with DS I felt the same way you are.  With #2 - I swear I found out I was pregnant just yesterday & today I'm wondering where the time went.

  • Are you at home all day?

I have work and even work events that are keeping my days busy. In the evenings we either do house stuff or we meet up friends. We recently only had about 1 or 2 days a week were we are actually at home. We aren't staying out crazy late, but we do normally come home and just go to bed. I feel like time is just flying and while I'm still anxious to get to 40 weeks I still have a few things to finish before she gets here.

  • I honestly do not think I could possibly have enough time before LO gets here.  I have so much to get done (that I probably won't even do in all reality) that it feels overwhelming.

I'm fine with her staying in there for another month at least.

  • You should just be induced. Problem solved, DUH.
  • I'm working until I go into labor, and when I'm home, DH and I are getting some last minute projects done around the house. I'm trying to cross things off my to-do list little by little, and that's helping make this last trimester seem not so long. :)

  • Hey, at least you're getting close!

Hang in there. The last few weeks definitely test the patience.

Sounds cliche, but definitely take time to do things by yourself or with your husband. If you like shopping without lugging a baby around, do that now. If you like going out to dinner without having to time everything around when baby will eat, cry, need to be changed, etc., do that now!

Make some meals to freeze for the days and weeks after baby arrives. Get a pedicure. Go to a movie with DH (seriously, don't even know how long it took us to do this - we lived somewhere with no family when DS was a baby and still have never hired a babysitter) or with some girlfriends.

  • I am in the same boat as you are MHANSON, but I am at home...SAHMTB here. I try and get lots done, like yesterday I took my merry time and cleaned our floors. It took me most of the day because I knew once I was finished I would be bored.

We have not had our shower yet, so everything for the nursery is done until then. I keep finding laundry to do, just to do.

I have about 1gallon of fresh blueberries I could sort through and freeze but my feet hurtSad and swollen.

I wish I had extra cash to go out and get my haircut and a mani/pedi..(I have the cash just trying to be frugal)

I may pick up my crocheting again.

  • Not very well.  I am super irritable and crabby and just want to be left alone for the next month until this baby arrives.  I am not going to any social activities, etc. past this weekend because a) I am huge and feel gross and am so uncomfortable and b) I don't feel like answering the stupid "when are you due?" etc. questions anymore.  I personally want to hibernate until I deliver!

  • I'm reading and watching TV in whatever spare time I have.  I didn't do much of those things (mainly reading) after having a baby.

But overall, my issue is more "ZOMG THE TIME IS FLYING" than trying to pass time.  I remember feeling that way so much with DS, though, so I do know where you're coming from!  Go see movies, even if it's by yourself in the afternoon - it was a good month or two after DS before we ventured out to a movie and I missed that!

Ha. This baby is coming naturally, when it wants....

And yes, I work all day, but I also have the nursery done, sheets washed, and everything we need is purchased and set up.. so.. I twiddle my thumbs at night...

  • I've been really preoccupied with moving, so that's keeping my mind off of it, but when I got up in the middle of the night 3 times last night with a bursting bladder, I was extra anxious to be done.

  • I feel the same way, my days are dragging. I have so much to do too, but running low on the motivation.

I need to set up my classroom, and we just found out yesterday that the offer was accepted on our new house and our closing date is the 28th. Even though I have so much to do, I just feel tired and overwhelmed!

Have you had the nesting instinct? I'm waiting for mine to kick in...hopefully it does.

Try to make plans in advance, haircut, pedicure, dinner etc. That seems to help my days go by and gives me things to look forward to (besides baby).

Since this is your first baby, just try to rest and put your feet up. I hear next time it goes by quicker because you already have a child to keep you busy.

  • I think the wait is a lot easier if you you either already have a child or if you have a full time job. I have neither so I feel like I have been pregnant my entire life and can't wait for this to be over! I don't want her to come early but I wish I could speed up time. I am also extremely jealous of the girls on here that are almost 37 weeks. WTF not faiiiirr.

  • I feel like it is going way too fast!  Mainly because I feel so unprepared.  Our shower is Saturday though, so I am hoping I will feel better after that.  However, I may feel even more overwhelmed trying to get everything set up, take things back to the stores if I need to, clean up everything.  It seems like my list is never-ending.

  • I've literally put off all baby things until like, two weeks ago - so now, I'm sorta playing catch-up. I've got clothes/sheets to wash, bottles to buy, baby refresher/breastfeeding classes to take etc, FMLA paperwork to file. Still haven't done my hospital tour, either, which I hope to do before school starts in 12 days. I figure I won't really get my butt in gear until September 1.

This pregnancy has flown because of work and keeping up with my 3.5 year old. I can't believe it's already August!

  • Part of our labor/birth class homework was to come up with "labor projects"- things we'll do during early labor to pass the time.

So, I sorta just made a big list of things that I'd like to do: baby-related, house-related, books to read, work to get done, etc. I also printed a very elaborate coloring sheet (It's a sort of Native American pattern thing) off the internet and if I'm feeling really bored, I just pull out some markers like I'm 5 years old again.  :)

  • We are going to be moving hopefully by the end of the month or early September. I need all the time I can get. We don't have anything prepared yet because of this move, and I'm kind of stressed out. Luckily, I'm only 33 weeks, so I'm hoping having a due date at the end of September is going to help out.

  • I'm also in the SAHMTB club a good majority of the time.  I have a couple of "on call" jobs that I do sometimes, but not always.  I have kept myself as occupied as possible by sticthing DH, myself and LO felt stockings for Christmas.  They are really time consuming, and kind of tricky at first, but they get easier, and then I feel so accomplished when I finish one.  DH's is done, mine is about half way finished and I haven't started Lo's yet.  I was hoping to have them done before he was born, but at the rate I am going I may have to  shoot for Thanksgiving instead.

  • Still trying to finish the nursery here. I decided to do an entire DIY nursery... So all the tedious projects are KILLING me. Today my rug canvas shows up and I can try to hurry and finish the super soft shag rug for the nursery. I have to prep the cloth diapers, wash baby clothes... as well as a billion other things around the house. I fixed my shark steam mop... I've got MORE than enough to do... and not enough time. I want it all to be done when DH flies in 3 weeks from friday, That way we can just work on trying to evict LO.

  • Dealing with the wait because I don't have a choice lol. Kidding aside...I work and will work until I go into labor or EDD, whichever comes first. When I'm not working I am watching my kids so that takes up the rest of my day. Also I'm putting off doing almost everything for the baby so that when I hit 36wks I can panic about not having anything done and feel like there isn't enough time in the world left.

  • Funny you should mention this.

I'm bored with work (and really slacking off), I'm bored with tv, I'm bored with the internet..............

...........................................I just don't know if anything will make the time pass quicker.

I suck at coloring but it is still awesome. :) The website has a bunch of different designs and since they are so intricate, they take forever. Excellent procrastination tool. (https://www.louiseelliottdesign.net/Download.html)

(Also, self-correction: it's an Indian design. It is awesome.)

Same. I'm not in any hurry especially since DH is traveling so much this month and my parents don't get here until 9/15.
