TTC after 35

awful baby names (not really TTC-related)

I had a touch of insomnia last night and watched the new I'm Having Their Baby show.  It is a pretty lousy show about adoption (I thought it would be more about surrogates).  Anyway...one girl on there was 18, already had a 10 month old and was pregnant again.  Her sister also had a baby when she was 14.  Here's the kicker....her baby was named Pazley, and he sister's baby was named Icesis.

(I was watching on closed caption, so I'm sure about the spelling).

Yikes.

I have seen lots of bad spelling on closed caption, so the spelling might be off/the result of a closed caption typist not knowing how to spell, but still-- those names are terrible! Isis is only good if you're an ancient Egyptian goddess and as for Paisley, who the heck wants to be named after a design element (Polka Dot? Plaid?)??

I agree about closed captioning, D&W, but something in my heart tells me these girls would definitely go with the crazy spelling.  (And the one probably has no idea who Isis is).  I don't get why everyone has to be so special and spell their children's names in a weird way.  I was also watching the Olympics (on closed caption) and said to my husband, "Oh, there's that Jor-DEEN girl again (Jordyn Wieber -- US gymnast).  He said, "Um, they pronounce it Jordan."

  • Those names certainly don't do anything for me :( I like names that are different but some are just plain ridiculous! Those poor kids :(

Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

  • I totally got sucker into that same show on Saturday morning. I wa crying and DH walked in the room "why is the matter"..    Stupid shows.

Ridiculous names but I have to say I felt terrible for that girl. She had no chance in that environment and did the right thing giving away the baby. If only she had done the same for "Pazley" since she will likely end up in the same situation.. Sad.

What I did not get was the 29 yr old giving away her baby...

As for the names..yikes.  I believe Isis is the goddess of Fertility--which is ironic.
