I work in an elementary school as admin. asst. to the principal.

Won't tell the students - I'm sure they'll "see" eventually. I had been planning on telling the staff when they come back (i work in summer) during the teacher workshop days. My principal wanted me to do a little welcome back project of getting people to send me a picture from their summer and make a slideshow out of them to show at the 1st meeting. I was going to put my u/s pic from yesterday in there, but now that won't really work (see my"I've been demoted..." post that I just posted).

The staff comes back right after Labor Day. I work all year.

I had been planning on taking the remainder of the school year off after having LO, then possibly bringing him/her to school with me over the summer (it's just me and principal) because we only come in for a few hours every day. I hadn't gotten as far as September yet, though I would love to take more time off.

What do you do? Reading specialist. I teach 6th and 7th grade reading and reading support.When do you return to school? Inservice starts 8/28; Kids start 9/4How will you tell your students? Not sure. I am sure they will notice eventually, don't know if I want to come out and announce it.What do you plan on doing after having your LO? Again, I am not sure. I would love to take off the rest of the year. But that would be 16 weeks. (We start late and end late this year). Not sure that is in the cards.

What do you do? I teach 4th grade language and literacy - ESL and native Spanish literacy.

When do you return to school? 13th for inservice, 20th with kids

How will you tell your students? Our first unit is about genetics/heredity; I might work it into a lesson somehow!

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I'm planning on taking the rest of the school year off and then going back for the 13-14 year.

What do you do? 2nd grade classroom teacher

When do you return to school? Teachers go back Sept. 4, students Sept. 6. But I'll be in my classroom setting up starting next week.

How will you tell your students? Last time I told my class by playing Hangman. Not sure about this year. I'd love to wait to tell everyone at work until after the 19th, which is Back-to-School Night, but I don't think I'll be able to hold off the rumors that long. Parents in my district can be rough, and if they know at Back-to-School Night I'll be assaulted with questions the whole time. A friend was pg. last year and one of her parents yelled at her during dismissal saying, "How dare you have a baby during the school year. That's why teachers have the summer." Can you believe that?

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I'll take the rest of the school year off and return next September.

I work in Before and After school services, we take care of those kids whose parent's work longer hours that school covers. Plus I work with toddlers during the daytime at a childcare while the school age kids are in school.

We start back to school next week on the 15th but I have been working with our summer camp program all summer.

Not sure how I will tell the elementary kids, especially because I am not married so I need to figure out the best way. The little guys will be easier to tell!

I plan on still working both places after the little guy or gal gets here... I get a good discount for childcare at the childcare I work so it just makes sense! Plus with the baby's father going back to school to finish his degree, I have to be the primary bread winner!

I'm a HS Guidance Counselor. I go back for PD on the 20th. School starts Sept 6. I am not planning on telling my students. They will find out when I start showing.

The plan is to take off the rest of the school year and return in Sept. I would love to SAH but it doesnt make financial sense when we look at my salary, stipend for extra hours I work, benefits and pension. I will have summers off, so that will be great.

What do you do? Math teacher (currently looking for a job though)

When do you return to school? Well...depends on if I have a job Most start right around Labor Day.

How will you tell your students? I will let them figure it out. I usually teach high school and it won't take too long for them to piece it together.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? Taking the year off and hopefully going back in the fall.

I teach ELA to grade 8.

The teachers return Sept. 4 and the kids Sept. 6.

I think I'm going to wait it out to see what my body is looking like and how long I can put off telling anyone. I've had some bleeding and LO's hb at 6w6d was 122, which my doctor said was a bit slow.

I can take off 6 weeks (8 if I have a section) and then I must return. My girlfriend's mom runs a daycare, so I'd probably send LO there.

How will you tell your students? I will wait a while, so idk yet.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I want to stay out the rest of the year, but I'm not sure yet. At least 8 weeks.

When do you return to school? Tomorrow (UGH!) Students don't come back until next Wed., though.

How will you tell your students? I will probably tell my upper level students first (since many of them have had me as a teacher for 3 - 4 years) and then tell the other classes. I will not wait for them to ask, but I will make an announcement around 15 weeks (or as longer if I can hold out)

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I hope to take the rest of the school year off (about 9 weeks) and then go back in the fall when the baby is about 5 months old.

What do you do? School Psychologist in a high school

When do you return to school? The Thursday before Labor Day, kids start the Tuesday after.

How will you tell your students? Not sure, I will probably tell most of them when I start showing.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? The standard maternity leave is 8 weeks, which will take me to a few weeks before the end of the school year. I will have to talk to my principal to see if she really wants me to come back for those few weeks. Then I will return the next school year.

How will you tell your students? I don't plan on telling my students anything - they are fourth graders so they will figure it out. If they ask I certainly won't deny it though. My teaching partner is also pregnant and due at the end of September so for now that's our focus.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I will be off for 8-10 weeks and go back for the last 6-8 weeks of the school year. I am hoping that the private sitter we've had for years with our daughter will also want to watch this little one.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I was asked to be the director of the childcare center where DD will start this fall, so I'll be bringing both of my babies with me. I'd love to stay home, but unless DH gets another job, that's our plan.

Before I start as the childcare director though, I'll be taking off 12 weeks and then return the last week of school and then have all summer off. So I won't be starting as Director until LO is 6 months old and DD is 18 months old. I am excited about the plan.

What do you do? I work part -as a counselor at the Mental Health Center at a University.When do you return to school? I go back to work on Aug 27thHow will you tell your students? I haven't decided how I am going to handle this yet. I don't usually share any personal information with clients unless it is beneficial for their treatment (which it usually is not); however my pregnancy will directly affect them since I will be leaving in March to have LO and they will have to see a new counselor, so again I am not sure how or when I will tell them. What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I am probably going to take the rest of the semester off and then go back the following fall semester. At least that is what I hope to do.

What do you do? I teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade music and 6th grade band. I have about 700 students!!!!!

When do you return to school? August 27th *eek!*

How will you tell your students? Not sure yet. I have a little "Mrs. B is reading ______ by ________" sign and I thought about putting a preggo book on there to see who would catch it!

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? HOPEFULLY I will take the rest of the year off, if I don't have to take off many days before the baby comes and if I don't have the baby early!

What do you do? - half-time Grade 6 Health, Science, SS & Arts Ed and half-time Student Support

When do you return to school? - staff returns for PD on Aug. 29th & students return on Sept. 4th

How will you tell your students? - I'm not too sure yet. It would be hilarious to dress up for Halloween as a mummy a la Jessica Simpson but I'm pretty sure I'll be showing too much to hide it that long. I'd like to do something creative but not terribly distracting. One of my colleagues is due 7 weeks before me so maybe we'll do something together. Or maybe not. Despite my silly idea, I don't really want to draw that much attention to my pregnancy or be "in the spotlight" because there is so much more for us to focus on at school than the peanut growing in my belly.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? - I will take the rest of the school year off. Luckily, in Canada, I can be on maternity leave for a year. I'm not sure that I'll take the whole year though. I make a much better salary than my DH (who will be in school for a few months at a time over the next two years) so it might make better financial sense for me to take a shorter maternity leave and for him to take a bit of a paternity leave.

What do you do? I teach first grade in a public school.

When do you return to school? I will officially return for inservice 8/20. The students return 8/27. Of course, I was in a little bit the past couple of days and I'm sure I'll be in the classroom at least one partial day next week.

How will you tell your students? I haven't decided but I'll wait until I'm showing. With DD#1 I told my students during Morning Meeting. I did gender reveal pink cupcakes after my ultrasound at 20 weeeks.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I'm hoping to stay home from mid-March- until August.

What do you do? 2nd grade teacherWhen do you return to school? I go back for in services on Aug. 27th and to get the classroom ready. Students come back Sept. 5th. How will you tell your students? I'm not sure how I will tell them. They are so young I may just wait until I am showing and let them figure it out. Our staff always does a cute announcement for any big events that are happening in each of our lives. So I am planning on having a friend make a cookie bouquet with baby carriages. I just got married in November so I am going to use the playground song"First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage...coming March 2013"What do you plan on doing after having your LO? We get 6 weeks for vaginal birth and 8 weeks for c-section. There will be about 11 weeks left of school so I think I will have to go back for a few weeks and have Step-Mom or babysitter watch the baby.

How will you tell your students? Not sure yet. Last time, I found out in April and told them in June. We were playing hangman and I did "Your teacher is having a baby" - it was so cute - they loved it. They're definitely not ready for hangman yet though in the fall.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I'll take the rest of the school year off, and plan on returning the following August. My district offers daycare/preschool for teachers and staff. One of the 2 locations is in my building. It's a perfect situation to be a working mom, and my LO will just be on the other side of my building, and I can visit anytime I want.

I am a special education teacher who provides special education services to students who are in district but attend non public schools. It is more like a resource program where I travel to different schools and pull the kids out for 45 minutes twice a week, once for math and once for language arts.

Our first day is Sept 4.

I really haven't thought about it! Because of the nature of my position I am not sure if I will be returning to the same schools with kids I know or different schools with new kids. I will probably tell them closer to the holidays if they dont figure it out because I probably wont be coming back in January.

I am hoping to go out on maternity leave in January and stay out for the rest of the year. I hope to bring LO by my office in June before summer break so I can see all my co workers. I have no maternity leave coverage so I will be exhausting my sick leave and then hopefully taking a family leave. I will return back in Sept.

How will you tell your students? I haven't really thought if it. Probably not until they notice that i'm showing. Or unless I get sick or my pregnancy brain kicks in while i'm trying to teach.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? The plan is to take off for the rest of the Spring semester and then return in June for summer classes. We'll see how that goes!

What do you do? I have a dual appointment. I'm a health care professional (athletic trainer=sports medicine, for athletics department) and professor in the athletic training education program

When do you return to school? just started back today...but classes don't start until after Labor Day

How will you tell your students? I'll be teaching a class of seniors this fall who've been taking bets since I got married when I'd get pg. I guess I should think of something original/exciting since they'll be so excited I'm finally KU.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? Thinking I'll have to figure out how to teach my spring semester class in about half the time. Will take 7 weeks off per FMLA then DH and I will get creative between working from home/bringing the LO to work. I don't get released until June even though the campus shuts down and everyone else leaves in early May. Praying we come up with some type of daycare for the fall.

What do you do? I'm a high school Talented and Gifted teacher, and my main content class is AP Lang and Comp, which I teach to about 80 students.

When do you return to school? A week ago. Students come next Monday, and I met many of them yesterday during information day. They seem like a good group.

How will you tell your students? I'll announce it when I start to really show, so I can crack jokes about it. My students also need to know because they'll have to take more personal initiative second semester to prepare themselves for the AP exam in May.

What do you plan on doing after having your LO? I will probably take 8-9 weeks, then return for the last month of school. I feel like it's important I'm there for the final week or two of exam prep.
