Late Term and Child Loss

Not liking my image right now

I know that I am still only 3 weeks since our loss and that the weight is not going to come off as easy as it did with my breastfeeding LO last time....but I still feel frumpy and fat.  To make matters worse, my brother is getting married in 3 weeks and I had already bought three maternity dresses for the wedding (would have been 33 weeks then).  I went shopping with my mom last weekend and I just kept breaking down in tears with every dress.  I feel like I am still 5 months pregnant and nothing fits!  My maternity cloths are too big, my regular cloths are too tight. I have no clue what I'm going to wear at the wedding!!!!

Re: Not liking my image right now

  • I have to admit that this is one of the issues that I have been dealing with. Why did I have to recover from having a baby if I didn't actually have a baby to take home? Then there is the other issue of whether to buy new clothes in a bigger size because of the possibility of having another baby.

Go to a store that you love and find a dress that you love. You might have to buy it in a bigger size, but no one will know that. And the truth of the matter is that you will look fabulous.

  • I know the feeling. It is not fair that we are left with the baby weight but no baby. I have always been very active and never had any body issues until after I gave birth. I finally decided to go back to see my trainer last month and it's made a world of difference. Have you tried a wrap dress? Those tend to be very flattering on all body types.

I'm sorry you are feeling this way. Just another horrible thing we have to deal with. Be gentle on yourself - I'm sure you'll look fabulous at the wedding.

  • I'm so sorry you're having these feelings and I completely understand. Is there anything special you can do for yourself, like getting your hair done or a makeover or something?  I know nothing will really help you feel better but somethings the superficial can help.

  • I know just how you're feeling. I am so sorry. I had to work hard to get my sister to let me get a slightly different bridesmaid dress b/c I would have been 25 wks for her wedding but I never got to wear it, I had to be induced instead. Now my clothes that fit before are too snug and everything else is too baggy. I gained a lot of wt. after. But I feel like sh!t really bad! I am so sorry ((hugs)) I hope you can find something to wear by then

I am struggling with the same issues.  It sucks your dealing with this.  I had to go to my cousin's wedding a bout 2 months after my loss, and needed to get a new dress.  It was so hard to walk in to a store and have NO IDEA what size I was.  It sucked.  I left with nothing.  But, a week later I went back and took a ton of dressed into the dressing room, I ended up finding something I really liked.  That did make me feel better.

I also think it's a great idea to do something for your self; get your hair done, your nails, or a massage or facial, or even just some new lip gloss and eye shadow.  A little bit of pampering goes a loooonng way these days.

  • Thanks guys!  It doesn't help that I am super bloated this week, super crampy and feel like I am going to start AF....I have gained 4 lbs in just this week...so hoping it's just water weight/bloat and will be gone in 2 weeks!!
