Convertible carseat question

Our convertible carseat has the 3 positions for reclining and the most reclined position rear facing is up to 23  pounds then you are supposed to incline it from 23-35 lbs. I was wondering if this is a safety or comfort issue. When our son sleeps his head bobs forward and I didn't want to have to incline the seat until he was a little later.

Sorry if I should have posted this on baby gear, but I didn't want anyone telling me that my 23lb baby should be forward facing, so I felt pretty safe here. TIA!

Re: Convertible carseat question

  • I honestly have no idea.  Our convertible car seat has three reclining positions but states that only the first (most reclined) position should be used while rear facing.  The other two reclining options are for forward facing only.  I would follow your specific car seat recommendations though.

  • Sorry, I only lurk here, there is usually good baby wearing advice (and AP for 15+ years). We regularly send posters to this board to get advice on carriers and correct usuage. The regular Gear ladies (myself included) would never recommend ff before age two. Whenever possible we also refer posters to car-seat.org to get correct information from certified car seat technicians. They are also pro ERF.
