Excited to buy my first cloth diapers!

We have a natural baby store in town. I'm going to stop by tomorrow night to buy our first cloth diapers. They let me make an appointment because they are closed on my days off and open during my work hours. Anyway, I need to see these things in person and I figure buying a few at full price will be worth their time explaining things to me. Then I'll hopefully feel comfortable enough to buy others online at a better price.

I've been reading about cloth diapering for months, so yay!

  • Yay! We are cloth diapering too. Are you going to use cloth wipes? I hear they are just as easy to use.

I want to for pretty much the same reasons I want to CD. DH is on board for pretty much anything I suggest, especially if it's financially beneficial :)

It's so much cheaper to cloth diaper! It's crazy because I'm actually excited to CD (until I get the first really nasty diaper! :)  )

  • We're doing cloth diapers and cloth wipes.  And I just bought some organic witch hazel / aloe so I can make wipe-spray (water, witch hazel/aloe, and a little bit of dr. bronner's baby soap).

Here's what I have... I'm so excited!  I just started doing all the prep this morning.

36 Green Mountain Organic Prefolds (Orange Edge)

2 Bummis SuperBrites Covers, 2 Thirsties Covers, 2 Grovia Covers

    3 Snappis

    24 BumGenius Elementals (AIOs)

    1. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our cloth wipes. We started out using disposable wipes with our CD's because we were given so much and it was so much more hassle. With the cloth wipes, you just throw them in the pail/bag with the dipes and forget about them. The sposie wipes were all gross and poopy and required an extra trip to a trash can. I HIGHLY recommend the Thirsties Fab wipes, they are so, so soft and have held up so well for us.

    2. Even after you get 100 really nasty diapers, CDing is still exciting, especially when you get to buy more with the money you've saved Big Smile

  • So exciting.  It gets addicting but it is so worth it to use cloth.  Ia m going to be making my first cloth wipes soon.  With two in cloth I think it will be much easier.

  • I registered for the Bum Genius CDs and I am super excited to test them out when LO gets here. I have a friend that uses them and swears by them. She said they are the best and she has a little boy too and no leaks. Good luck everyone!

I got a bunch of prefolds and covers plus one aio and one pocket to test out. And wipes and wet bags. It was the most fun I've had shopping in a long time!

The woman spent about an hour going over everything plus we talked about different baby carriers.
