When to call the doc/No movement

So I am 32 weeks, baby is breech and I have AP. I had my last appointment with u/s Friday and baby & fluids looked good after had just slightly lower fluids the week before.

Well in the past 2 days I have felt very limited movement. I'd say I feel her once or twice in an hour?and then go 2-3 hours with nothing. Last week she was much more active. I've already been to L&D once a few weeks ago for lack of movement and they more or less told me I was crazy because she was moving like crazy.

What would you ladies do?

Re: When to call the doc/No movement

  • If it makes you feel better just call or go in. Trust me I doubt they would mind.

  • My doc told me to eat or drink something, then go lay down in a quiet room and try to count 10 in 2 hours.  He said "kick counting" is tricky because not feeling them could be nothing, but could be a sign there's a bigger problem! So, I'd go with your gut...they don't call it "mothers intuition" for nothing.  If you're worried, I'd go!

  • Personally, I'd rather be safe than sorry. BUT a very dear friend of mine lost her son 3 days before his due date because she didn't go into the doc in time for his lack of movement. I'm not trying to scare you-- I'm just saying let the staff or whomever think you are crazy-- you are the one who needs to be sure what is best for both you and baby.

I called once with DS1 for this reason and the doctor told me to do the above. Everything was fine, but if you are worried you should just call.

I was going to suggest OJ and if nothing within about 15 minutes of drinking that call right away.

  • I will tell you what my Dr. said. She said that i should feel the baby during the three periods of the day: morning, afternoon and night. She's like he doesn't need to be moving all day but you should feel him at least those three times at some point throughout the day. It's made me worry a lot less and i don't feel like he needs to move several times every hour. It sounds like your baby is moving fine but if you are nervous then call your Dr.
  • A few weeks ago, I noticed the baby's movement wasn't normal...so I went out, bought orange juice, drank half a glass and propped my feet up. He started moving like crazy within 30 minutes, which was a relief. I try that trick before I get super worried.

But, like the others said, it's better to be safe than sorry - I would definitely call if I felt apprehensive about lack of movement.

  • when i was in the ER the other week (for non-preg related crap), i asked about movements. the doc told me that their guideline is 6 movements in 2 hours. if i didn't feel that, come in. she said they take decreased movement very seriously - if it's your 1st time coming in for it or if it's your 13th time, they always want to check to make sure everything's alright.

so def call if you're worried!
