apartment living and dogs ? about walks

DH and I live in an apartment right now until our lease is up (which isn't until the end of Nov.) My question is how do you plan on walking the dog when LO arrives? I know for the first few days DH will be here with me and either one of us can walk the dog. But when he goes back to work I don't know how its going to work. I was thinking of just wearing her but it seems too early to do that (she will be less than a week or two)  plus I might have a trouble picking up the poop. DH suggested leaving her in the bouncer (didn't like that idea so much) but all I can come up with is walking the dog while she is asleep but having a long range video monitor with me.

What do you plan on doing when its only you and the dogs need to go out for bathroom breaks?

Please don't go out and walk your dog while you leave your baby sleeping at home.

I'm pretty sure that is frowned upon. (Correct me if I'm wrong anyone...)

What floor is your apartment on?  When I had DD we had a dog.  DD is an end of November baby, so we were in the colder months when I had to figure this out.  We are in a townhouse, so I have a little patch of "yard" behind my house.  I would strap DD into her bouncy seat or swing and just take the dog out back real quick. This was usually a morning fix.  When she was dressed, I'd wear her and hold a blanket around her when I took the dog out.

**I also made sure that DD was in sight and kept the blinds open so that I could see her while I was out back with the dog.**

I hate the idea of leaving her and the idea of the dog messing up the carpet. My dog takes a while to use it. he likes to stiff everything first and then turn back and use it

Do you mean walks or bathroom breaks?  For just taking them out to the bathroom quickly, I'd be fine going during a nap and bringing the monitor, as long as you're on your property and not in some kind of high-rise where it would take a long time to get back to your apartment.

It's also fine to wear the baby.  Picking up poop is a trick at first, but you figure it out.  : )

For walks, we almost always go as a family after work - one of us takes the dogs and the other pushes the stroller.  If we aren't able to do that, then either DH or I will take them out while the other stays with the baby.

And some days, at least in the beginning, they just wouldn't get a walk.  We tried not to make it a habit (and we luckily own our building and have access to a fenced yard for bathroom breaks), but it just happens sometimes with a newborn.

Would you be able to do Doggie Day Care for the short amount of time that you're still in this apartment? or Hire a dog walker?

If I couldn't see the front door of my apartment from where I was standing outside, I wouldn't go out without the baby.  If I could see my front door (i.e. when I get the mail, take our dogs out the back door of our house), I would only leave the baby in a crib with a monitor on.  I would never leave DS in a swing or bouncy seat.

I recommend stroller or wearing the baby.  Picking up poop can be difficult, so maybe the stroller is a better solution, however, if it were me, I'd wear LO.

I suggest wearing the baby and using something like this, https://www.nationalpetpharmacy.com/Product/16259/PetZone-Skoop-N-Pak-Long-Handled-Pooper-Scooper

    Sorry it's not clicky.

Not really DH works late afternoon/evening shifts and doesn't get home til after midnight. Plus since he will be the only one working our budget will be cut for a while and we can't afford day care or a walker.

My H will be in charge of taking the dog out once our baby arrives.  Does your dog need to go out more than twice a day?  I have a large dog who only needs to go out once a day, and and I don't have experience with small dogs, but you might try switching to a higher quality dog food.  Better food usually equals less waste.

Considering that you can't see your door/apartment from where the dog has to potty, I don't think leaving the baby alone in your apartment is an option at all.  If you go out, the baby's going out.  I wore my babies from the time we came home from the hospital - look into the Moby wrap, I found that ideal for wearing a tiny baby.

My pup usually only poops in the morning and night right around when she eats, so I plan on wearing baby to take her to pee and then my SO will take her after meals. If she can't wait, I would just leave it and ask your SO to pick it up when he gets home if there's an issue with bending over to pick it up.
