Late Term and Child Loss

Well, back from appt...

She didn't have many more answers for us than my ob did. The pathology confirmed there was a large clot behind my placenta with no other abnormalities. This was caused by a partial abruption that led to my PPROM. She ordered a clotting panel to rule out any clotting disorders. For our TTC plans, she told us the standard 3-6 months (whereas my OB said one cycle), with doing betas as soon as I get a bfp and starting p17 injections at 16 weeks.

  • I'm sorry that you didn't get the answers you were hoping for.  We also don't have a definitive answer for why we lost baby Gary.  There was more than one contributing factor and they can't pin point it.  I know how frustrating it can be.  However, I am glad to hear that you have a plan for when you decide to TTC again.  It's a good step forward.  Hugs!

  • I'm glad she's going to attempt to rule some things out with a test and that you have a plan!

  • I am so sorry that you did not get many answers, but am glad to hear that they are going to do some more testing to have more knowledge.  I am sorry that she is asking you to wait 3-6 months vs the one cycle.  (((Hugs)))

I'm sorry you didn't get many more answers from your appointment today.  I know how maddening that can be.

My biggest hurdle in TTC I think was not having a plan.  When I sat down with a new practitioner and started to sort that out, I was much more open mentally to trying again.  Part of my plan to prevent preterm labor is to start p17 injections, and I actually had my first one today.  They aren't fun, but it's actually really helpful because I feel like I'm doing something to help my baby, whereas earlier in the pregnancy I felt like I was just sitting around doing nothing (I'm not, of course, but I enjoy having a plan and something I can do to help the situation).  I know you are a ways away from this, I just hope it gives you some strength that people are watching out for you and your baby from the beginning.

  • I'm sorry you didn't get many answers, I know how hard that can be.  I hope starting a plan will give you something positive to look forward to.  It can sometimes help to have things planed out so you kind of know what to expect.
