Well we figured it out! If anyone remembers from some of my posts a week or 2 back, we were dealing with an extremely fussy baby! If he wasn't eating or sleeping (which he rarely did) then he was screaming his little head off! After a visit with the pedi and LC, we discovered that he hadn't regained his birthweight yet at 3 weeks and that he was so fussy because he was starving!! My supply was low and I was using a nipple shield that was Fing with my supply as well as his latch. The LC had me lose the nipple shield and supplement with one bottle of formula every night and we have a new baby on our hands!!
The ONLY time he is fussy now is pretty much when he wakes up hungry and the occasional little bit of fussiness if he is bored or something. He is never that incosolable baby we originally were dealing with who cried all hours of the day! Life is just so much easier now and LO seems so much happier! At first I felt guilty for introducing formula, but since it makes baby and mommy so much happier, then I am all for it!
Well, I just wanted to update and let ya'll know that I can now enjoy my adorable son and for those of you struggling with supply, lose the nipple shield if you are using one. It worked wonders for us! (Just be ready for a week or so of excruciating, but well worth it, pain!)
And a pic, just because ![]()

Re: Update on extremely fussy baby
Hooray! Glad you were able to figure it out. My LC said that she sees mis-prescribed nipple shield use all the time and that there are really only a few cases that actually need it.
Congrats on your beautiful baby!
