Help with girls name and NN options

My husband and I both love the name Amelia. However, we are really struggling with a nickname option for the name. I should point out that I think it's ridiculous to "pick" your child's nickname but my husband insists that we have to decide on what we are going to call her from the start.

With that said, I love all of the popular nicknames options for the name Amelia (Mimi, Melly, Millie, etc). I am not crazy about Amy. However, my other daughter's name is Madelyn (nickname Maddie). So I just feel that Melly and Maddie OR Millie and Maddie is way too cheesy together.

Your advice would be appreciated. Do I just name her Amelia and risk the cheesy nickname combo between the two girls? Are there other nickname options for the name Amelia that I am not listing? Both my husband and I love Ellie but I worry that Ellie is a stretch for Amelia.

If it helps, the middle name will be Elizabeth, a family name.

I agree that Maddie and Melly or Maddie and Millie are too cutesy.

What about Maddie and Mia? They still have the double M, but the different ending takes the matchiness down a notch.

I like Lia as a nickname, but that depends on how you are pronouncing Amelia. Does it have a 'ya' ending? Or a 'Lia' ending?

I never thought to pronounce as a Lia ending. We are doing the ya ending.

I don't think Millie and Maddie are cheesy together at all, especially since they're both nns and not fns. LOVE Millie soooooo much, too. That was our frontrunner for awhile (fn Camilla). Adorable.

I think you should name her Amelia and see after she gets here what kind of nn you start calling her. It is human nature to do this unless you absolutely are dead set against anything but the original name, so eventually you will give her a pet name and that will stick for you, but others are always going to change it later on when she gets into school, college, etc.
