Re: Still no solids

  • Have you tried steaming fruit or veggie bites?  How about tofu cubes, shredded cheese, shredded chicken?

  • My DS is the exact same. We have tried all of the normal suggestions (shredded chicken, cheese, steamed veggies etc) and he shudders when just touching them. The only time I have any luck is when I hand him small pieces of food while he is playing.... I know this is a horrible habit to get into, although I am hoping it will help him get used to different foods. I just put, for example, a small piece of shredded chicken in my hand and offer it to him. He will take it and chew while he is playing. Sometimes doing this he will have 3-6 pieces of something he otherwise wouldnt have attempted.

How would this be a horrible habit?

Meal times are a struggle, he is more of a snack all day long kind of baby at this point. It makes it very difficult to cut out any bottles, especially when day care will only feed at meal times. I guess it may not be a "Horrible" habit, although personally I would perfer a more structured feeding schedule. But for now it works Smile

  • cooked pasta is one of DD's favorites.  She can suck them up or chew on them. Also, I make baby popsicles for her using bananas, greek yogurt, and breastmilk (could use water to thin it out) inside a handheld popsicle container.  I've also used former pacifiers and a container to freeze them.  I've also given watermelon like you have, but I've added cantelope to the mix with it being the season for them.

  • I can't offer any advice as my LO won't eat solids either...  I'm looking forward to seeing what others say.
  • DD is not a fan of purees, either.  One thing that helped us, I think, is that starting at 5 mos we always put her in her highchair with us at dinnertime.  We would give her puffs, then Cheerios a few days later, then fruit, the.... You get the point. She really enjoyed being in ger high chair next to us.  It is almost like " monkey see, monkey do".  I think some kids just love to eat more than others.

Some of DD's faves are: cheese quesadilla, cheese, sweet potatoes, toast, pancakes, broccoli cheddar nuggets, black beans.
