I know this might depend on one's personal opinion of what a godparent should be or role they play with a child.
My husband and I were talking, are we going to select one set for both or one for each child? If we weren't having twins, each child would obviously have their own set so I'm thinking we should have one set for each twin.
One of my concerns is that one set of godparents might be closer/do more for one twin than the other. Not so much in the form of gifts or money, but the little things and building the bond (e.g., calling, spending time with them, leaving notes or sending thoughtful cards).
On the flip side, one of my biggest concerns is making sure both of my babies are able to feel like an individual and that we treat them that way. If they each had their own godparents, that is just one thing early in life that is unique for each of them and they don't have to share.
Thoughts or advice? What have ya'll done for your twins or multiples?
Re: How many sets of godparents?
We picked 2 separate sets of godparents for each child.
As you said, if they were singletons, they would each have their own set of godparents.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
We just had baptism on Sunday
We had a separate set for each. It was easy for me - I have one brother and one sister. H had to leave one sister out, but she is the type that is okay with stuff like that and she is already a godmother to our niece.
Boy/girl twins born at 37w1d and 37w2d
the same godmother but diff godfathers

Same for us. If they were singletons we'd run the risk of having varying degrees of participation by the godparents as well. We stuck with family members, hoping that then they'd remain close and an active part of the LOs' lives. We had a family member from my side and family member from DH's side for each set of godparents.
It just depends on who you have in mind. If you had planned on having them be godparents for all of your children, but I don't see anything wrong with doubling them up now.
