STM who had acid reflux in previous pregnancies

Did you find that your acid reflux really improved once baby dropped? I've been having the worst acid reflux lately and everything I've read says it gets better once baby drops, but I'd like to hear it from real women if it's true or not.

Re: STM who had acid reflux in previous pregnancies

  • I never dropped with the other two, and my reflux was hideous through the end.  BUT, I've carried this one super low since around 30w, and I have the worst reflux of all of my pregnancies this time.  So in my case, no, location of baby had no correlation to reflux relief.  :(

  • I carried DS high until the end, so I didn't get that relief. But, heartburn has actually been way worse this time, and I'm carrying DD lower, so I don't think there's necessarily any correlation.

  • Dd never really dropped. I took digestive enzymes to combat the a/r with her. It started much earlier this pg and I've been taking a daily probiotic for about 2 months and and that helps. Stil have to avoid certain foods though for sure! Hope you feel better soon!

  • Boo No This is why I don't believe everything that I read. I like my expectations to be real.
  • No, dropping never helped.  I've had it so bad with all 3 pregnancies and I've found it to be almost as bad even after I delivered.  Awesome.

  • I'm a FTM but my coworker just had a baby in June. She dropped early (around 30 weeks) and had no relief from terrible heartburn and acid reflux, but as soon as she delivered... gone! She has had not one bit of reflux since delivery.

I carried DS low and never noticed when he dropped. It didn't make a difference in my reflux. Sorry.

  • No, it didn't get better until after I pushed him out.

  • Nope, it only got worse as the pregnancy progressed.  If you haven't already, ask your OB about taking something stronger like Zantac...you will feel soooo much better.

Similar to my experience.  Once DS dropped, still had awful HB.  Then 2 1/2 years in between pregnancies?  Not a single experience of acid reflux or HB.  About 3 months into pregnancy - yep it came back!

So I am expecting my relief to occur post-delivery.

  • No, I didn't notice a big difference with anything after I dropped because I carry so low (long abdomen).

  • Not at all.  I have carried babies high and low, and the heartburn has been bad.  Actually, this is probably the lowest of my three, and it's been the worst HB.  Take your zantac, and it will all be gone when baby comes!!

  • With DS I had really bad reflux, but it started in the 3rd tri so I didn't suffer through it too much. I never noticed him dropping, nor a change in heartburn severity. With this pregnancy, I've had heartburn since maybe 10-12 weeks. He dropped like a freaking boulder a little over a week ago & my heartburn is so much better. My vagina, on the other hand, is swollen like nobody's business & my pelvis feels like it could crack completely in half at any moment. I'd rather have the heartburn back at this point.
