DD is about 2 weeks from being 1 and still isn't walking. She is up one every other milestone and will toddle if holding onto your fingers. She can also stand unassisted for a minute or two but if she realizes you let go will usually sit right down. I am not worried, just wondering if there are any others like her out there.
I heard somewhere that it is actually best if they wait to walk until after a year for some sort of muscle development but it seems like the norm is that they walk before a year.
You will never know how much you mean to me my little jelly Bean.

Re: Anyone else's LO not walking close to a year?
She can use her push toy on carpet but when she tried on the hard wood floor it would go to fast for her and then she tried to sit down, it rolled backward and on top of her. No harm done but she was pretty confused about what happened. Sadly 90% of our house is hard wood too.

Not walking here either.
He crawls everywhere, cruises on furniture and walks when he gets up behind his push walker. He has only randomly stood unassisted for a few seconds. I'm not concerned.
If I had answered this yesterday, I would have said ditto to PPs. DD can cruise and crawl all over the place - but had no desire to 'practice walk'. Out of the blue last night she took 2 steps. I flipped out and yelled for my husband. She took two more steps for him. That is it, though. So who knows. She may be on the verge, or not. I just keep telling myself it will happen when it is supposed to and there is no rush.
But now I am confused if I should record these steps in her baby book - or wait for something more consistent.
My monkey will be 1 next friday and she isn't walking yet. She crawls like crazy, pulls herself up on furniture, can stand for a couple of minutes and even has a few words down. She walks with a walker toy or holding on to hands.
I'm not to worried though, she's just not ready and a lot of babies don't walk before one. My pediatrician has reassured me on that, and said not to force it because it might discourage her from wanting to do it. She's still wobbly so I figure she just needs to practice her balance a little more. Probably sooner then later she will pop up on her feet and just walk.
