1st Trimester

Can we talk about cramps?

They went away and now they're back. It's right above my pubic bone...maybe just from my ute growing?? I know it's normal but it doesn't make my mind at ease...especially after spending $15k on IVF, tons of shots, and the emotional roller coaster.

What's your experience with cramps?

Re: Can we talk about cramps?

  • They were at their worst from weeks 4-6, and are starting to taper off.

I do find myself confused sometimes - unsure if it's cramps, or an upset stomach.  My stomach has been so messed up since getting pregnant.

  • Mine come and go. I get them in the same spot, just above my pelvic bone, like where my ovaries are. Sometimes its the right side, sometimes the left. Drives me nuts.

Agreed. They make me want to scream sometimes. I've been told they are perfectly normal unless they get worse than what your period cramps use to be.

  • We are almost at the same stage and I get them off and on as well. Like a pp said I do sometimes have difficulty determining whether I just need to use the bathroom or they are cramps...lol. I actually find them a little comforting because they are not really painful, there is no bleeding, and I feel like in some weird way I am already working for hard my LO... Plus, I have very few other symptoms besides sore boobs, fatigue, and occasional dizziness so it is comforting to feel like I am working. Hopefully, I do not ever get other M/S symptoms cause I am no good at throwing up...

  • This is my third pregnancy and all three times I'm waiting for my period because I have cramps and I just think it's on it's way, turns out it's not! I have lower back aches too and all feels very period like. I'm pretty sure it's stayed that way the other two times until 9-10 weeks, where I go in the bathroom expecting to see blood. It's normal and I have two kids to prove it, soon to be three. :)

  • Cramps are normal as long as you are not bleeding. I was getting bad AF like cramps all the way up until 11 weeks. I am sure I will still continue to get them. You get them because your uterus is a muscle and it is expanding.

  • Im glad you asked this because ive been having cramping everyday this whole time and it was starting to worry me. Hearing its normal makes me feel better!
  • I still have random cramps &I felt like I had menstrual cramps until about week 6.

  • I get them off and on.  They worry me, too, but I keep reminding myself that it's normal!  I know that it feels like a lot can go wrong.  It's such a miraculous thing!  Mine feel like AF cramps when they come.  I start to think "Am I crazy? Am I having a hysterical pregnancy and I'm really about to start my period?"  BUT I AM PREGNANT.  No blood, so as far as I know so far, everything is fine.  Anxious to hear that HB!
