Weird sleeping positions?

Usually for E's naps, I put her in the crib while she is still awake and she will fuss or babble for a few minutes and fall asleep.

Occasionally, when I check on her she will be sleeping like she fell sleep sitting up. Her top half is  laying down, but bottom half is still in a sitting position (her head/torso is between her legs ) I will move her to a laying position because to me that looks very uncomfortable and I was concerned she might cut off circulation to her legs...

Anyone else's LO sleep really odd? Do you ever get concerned or am I just paranoid??

Re: Weird sleeping positions?

  • I have seen a few of my friends babies do this (pics on FB).  DD can not sit up from laying down so its not a problem here.  If it was that uncomfortable then she wouldnt be sleeping right?

  • DS fell asleep in that same position this weekend. It looked sooo uncomfortable so moved his legs out from under him.

  • We watch A on the video monitor.  (Yep, that's what DH and I do for fun...)  A gets into that same position, but usually moves on his own after 10 min or so.

  • Lucas doeS this every night. Either at bedtime or during night waking we see it on the monitor. He sits up and then falls forward asleep. Usually he sits back up and repeats until he eventually falls to his side. It's pretty funny.

  • T does this too. It looks sooo uncomfortable, but it doesn't seem to bother her. If she doesn't fall asleep sitting up, she'll often roll onto her side, stick both arms and legs directly out in front of her and fall asleep with her arms and legs completely stiff!

  • Ha.  I have a folder entitled "Weird Sleep Positions."  I take pictures of the video monitor of how he's sleeping in his crib.  Half the time it looks like he should be outlined with tape on CSI.  Last night was a particularly good "episode."  :)
  • DS does this all the time. I don't worry about it. Kids are so much more resilent and flexible. Remember how we used to have no problems sleeping on the floor or in a chair when were younger? If I did that now I wouldn't be able to turn my head for a week! Lol Here's B sleeping. On top of his seahorse no less. I don't dare move him! He wakes up so grumpy if he doesn't get his nap out.
