h.s reunions

Did you guys go to yours, or do you plan on going? How was it? My ten year will be this year in november. But we are driving to Indiana to visit our in laws for Thanksgiving w the baby. It will be the first time going out there with him so we cannot skip it. So i will be missing it. I guess at first i was kind of bummed, but now i am just excited to show L off to all H's friends and family. So it is a winSmile

  • Mine is this November also. I go back and forth between wanting to go and having no interest. We'll see how skinny I am by then :)

  • I went to mine. I still hang out with quite a few people I went to hs with so it was more like a gtg where some other people from hs showed up too. It was fun to see how everyone turned out though.

  • I went to mine two years ago and although I am glad I went, it wasn't what I expected. I think FB kinda killed the idea of reunions. All the people I cared about seeing are my friends on FB so I knew what was going on in their lives.

DH has his 10 year this year and I convinced him to go. I think it is fun to see how people have changed and now we have a baby to show off via pictures! :)

  • Ladies - I was 8 weeks pregnant at my.......25th(!!!) reunion this past September.  I found that my 20th and 25th were fun.  Anything before that, the jerks in high school were still jerks and alot of people just hadn't grown up.  By the 20th, everyone had mellowed and we all had a blast.  No one knew I was pregnant at my 25th so it was tough.  I typically drink so I was having to fake it etc.  My best advice is to go.  You can always leave.  But of course if you have to travel and spend alot of $ to do it, that changes things.

Oh Dear I am going to date myself.....but my 20 year reunion is this year!!!  I do not plan on going.  At my 10year reunion it was the same high school bull crap!

Totally agree about FB. I feel like there is no point in me going because I know exactly what everyone looks like and is doing.

  • Totally agree that FB pretty much ruins reunions! We did go to our 10 year reunion (this was 5 years ago, blah), and it really did seem like the same cliquish BS. I probably wouldn't go to another one....

  • We had a 5 year, and it was a drunk hook up fest.  It was at a hotel, so everyone stayed over and partied in the rooms late into the night.  It was a lot of fun because we were all in our early 20s.

My 10 year was a few years ago.  It was during the summer.  I happened to be traveling that weekend, so I didn't go.  I heard it wasn't that good.  Maybe I'll go to the 20 year.

  • My 10 year will be next year and I'm excited for it.  I wasn't a popular kid - but I want to show off that I'm successful and happy!  We still live near my hometown, so it won't cause any trouble with travel.

  • I went to my 10. It sucked. Everyone knew what each other was doing bc of facebook. They tried to have a game (who traveled the farthest to be here? Who's the most newly married?) but everyone knew the answers already bc of FB.

The best part was that the favor was a cd of songs from the 96-00 (years I was in high school). I didn't stay very long. It was all just awkward. That being said, I didn't really stay close with anyone from high school.

  • I skipped it. I still keep in contact with the few people from high school that I actually liked. I had no desire to see the rest of them.

  • I only had 27 people in my graduating class, so reunions are not a big deal for us, lol. If we have one (our 20th is in a few years) I will try to go, but my school is in southern CA and we live in Boston now, so not that easy. But, I don't think we will have one anyway....

I did go to my 5 and 10 year college reunions and had a blast :)

  • Didn't go to my 10 yr and my 20 yr is next year...holy crap! I don't have FB and keep in touch with a couple people still. I figured if they were important enough I would still be in touch. I hated high school anyways.

  • Mine is next weekend and we are going. Quite a few of us have had babies recently do I'm excited for the Sunday family day so I can see all the babies :) the Friday night thing will be fun too because it's a "meet and greet" at a dueling piano bar and at the very worst it will be a date night for me and DH because my mom will have the girls :)

  • Mine is this year too. I really don't want to go. The people I still want to see are still my friends. Also with FB, I know what everyone is up to. I agree with not wanting to be fake nice/interested in people I really don't care about. We'll see if I decide to go.

  • I think mine will be this next summer or spring but I don't plan on going. I live out of state and I have fb so I can already see what everyone is up to. Plus I keep up with the people I like.

  • I went to my 10 year this weekend. It was ok except that i was sick with a stomach bug. I made myself go because I paid $65 pp. It had open bar for 2 hours and I didn?t even get my money?s worth! BLAH! I felt like it was an OK time ? good to see people I never see or plan to see again. Because of Facebook everyone already knew everything about everyone. No surprises. I probably won?t go to anymore.

  • I missed my 5yr because I had a wedding.  I debated about going to my 10yr because at that time, I hated my job, wasn't married or even dating anyone, didn't have kids, etc.  I ended up going and had a pretty good time.   Just had my 15yr last year, but had found out I was preggo a few days before.  Debated about going to this one as well, since I'd have to be hiding my not drinking.  The 15yr wasn't as fun as the 10yr one.

FWIW, although I live in a big city, I still see a fair amount of ppl that I went to HS with.  I graduated with 300ppl, but it's a community where a lot of ppl tend to stick around.
