1st Trimester

Morning sickness starting at 11 weeks?

I was considering myself very lucky as I am just over 11 weeks and really have had very little morning sickness--until this past week where it has gotten significantly worse.  Has this happened to anyone--and more importantly, any idea why it happens?

Re: Morning sickness starting at 11 weeks?

  • when I was pregnant, my MS didn't start until about 10 weeks... then it lasted basically for the rest of my pregnancy...

everyone is different, some people get it early on, some later on, some not at all, and some every day...

there is really no answer as to why... its just a symptom of being pregnant

  • Yes, I started getting sick around 9 weeks.  It is due to rising HCG levels.  Everyone plateaus at a different time and then it starts to drop.  Your levels might have been rising slower than others and unfortunately, this might last a couple weeks.  You'll get through it!

  • I'm at 8 weeks and puked for the first time this morning.  I was doing so well!  I suppose it can start or end at any time!

  • Pretty normal really. Everyone experiences pregnancy differently and morning sickness starting at 11 weeks is very normal. It does usually mean that it will not last as long as those that start earlier. See the link below for more information and how to help it:

  • This happened to one of my friends. I am almost 10 weeks and was hoping I made it through first tri with very little morning sickness but I have a feeling that the weeks to come might be rough!
